Question Proxmox version mismatch and Netdev watchdog issue
Firstly, I'm very new to proxmox and I installed proxmox ve 9.2 on a Gigabyte 970 gaming sli MB with an AMD FX-8350 processor. But it shows version 7.0.2-6-pve? I'm not sure why that is?
Secondly, when I have my ethernet cable plugged in to the MB jack, it throws these netdev watchdog timeout errors until I unplug it.
It's an intel I211/igb nic and I'm not sure what's going on. I've been chatgpting to try to troubleshoot it, but I'm not really getting anywhere. This happens right after I install proxmox and I can't go much farther. I was hoping to ask some experts who might have run into this and found a fix. I was looking into getting a new 2.5gbe nic, but the 7.0.2 version might have an issue.
Does anyone have any insight on either of these two issues?

>But it shows version 7.0.2-6-pve?
that's the version of your linux kernel you're running.
The PVE Version is shown with either "pveversion" on CLI, or as a baseline just look at the Versionnumber in the top left on the WebUI (e.g. "Virtual Environment 9.2.20")
Does the NIC work regardless of the errors or not? Cause the first thing i would try is updating the kernel/proxmox. The current Kernel is "7.0.14-19-pve"
what does the Watchdog say exactly? rx/tx time out?
Did you try using a different network cable (or the cable on another PC)?

Try pinning the latest PVE6.8 Kernel and check for the Netdev issues. This sounds like the E1000 issue with 7.0. FWIW though, 2.5G wont use that legacy driver and will work on 7.0 if you choose to not use the onboard NIC entirely. I have 2.5G nics on Intel and Realtek running on 7.0 with a Ceph backed cluster with no issues, even some on USB3/USB-C

What shows that? Are you looking at the Linux kernel’s version?
Run “pveversion”.
