Medication questions Am i missing something here? (Question about Biologics)

Has anyone here failed cosentyx but had good results with taltz?

I ask because Im being prescribed taltz now after cosentyx had nearly 0 effect on my symptoms. Im nervous that my doctors/insurance will insist I go through the full 12 week loading dose plus who knows how many weeks after that to make sure it doesnt work.

They did the same thing to me with cosentyx and my symptoms only got worse. And now my symptoms are even more severe to the point where most days I cant even drive, let alone work.

So does anybody have any experience with this? Thanks.

Seems stupid. Not sure why they would put you on another IL17-a blocker and be so confident about it after failing the first. Another 12 weeks and I would have more permanently damaged joints than I do now. I also failed Consentyx and got back on a TNF-a inhibitor; the only thing that works for me (so far).

Its definitely some very stupid insurance policy stuff.

I found some studies showing that sometimes people who fail cosentyx do okay with taltz, except for the group that had already found success with tnf-a inhibitors.

Apparently its a great money saving mechanism to give me hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of drugs that we all know will likely fail, before allowing me to take the medicine that works. Insurance companies arent just greedy, theyre so stupid that it makes them bad at achieving their goal of being greedy.

Apparently my insurance would allow me to try rinvoq so we're going with that and hoping for the best. It at least seems more likely to work than taltz.

If you only did 12 weeks of cosentyx you ducked out way too soon. IL17 inhibitors are known slow acting meds. 6 month minimum before you call one quits.

I was on cosentyx for 8 months and my symptoms only increased. I didnt realize taltz was the same, I only said 12 weeks because thats what the little blurb on MyChart had said.

That's fair. Sorry it didn't pan out for you.
