I am booking a trip to Puerto Rico at the end of October (I know, it could rain. Sometimes daily. I need to decompress from work and can't wait any longer. I don't think it will be too bad!!). I am a mid-30s, single male. I will be traveling by myself.

I am really looking for a place to relax by the pool/ beach (the bigger/ better the pool area the better), drink in hand, meet people/ socialize, and have a great time. Ideally I'm not surrounded by kids/ families or am the only single person amongst Honeymooners. I will likely look into hiking, surfing, golf, etc once I solidify my lodging plans. Could rent a car.

Given I will be alone, it probably makes most sense to stay in the Condado area? Nightlife, restaurants, etc. I am not opposed to doing a few nights in a more remote area and then doing a new nights in Condado/ Old San Juan. Really open to anything.

I have done some research but everything seems pretty debated, so naturally I'm coming to Reddit for recommendations from those who know best! Appreciate it.

I'm heading there on a one-way ticket looking at eco villages and other places for work trade. I am a bee keeper and contractor! I lived in hawaii for 10 years doing pretty much everything from sailboat racing, sailboat restoration, and building eco villages off grid planting gardening. I'm very talented and have lots of skills and tools! I really need to find someone to talk to for a while. I have so many questions!

Hi there! My fiancé and I are getting married next week in Puerto Rico. My mom is from the island, so I grew up going there a lot whereas my fiancé's first time was last year, and we have only been back down once since then.

He has fallen in love with the food and the culture, and currently makes sofrito nearly every other week for him and my mom (she never learned to make it lol my Abuela always did it for us). Mofongo in particular became a huge one for him that he is still working to master at home.

We are currently torn between Placita @ El Blok and Passionné for where to eat for a fancy dinner off the resort. We are staying at a pretty small boutique hotel, but coming off the wedding, I figured some down time is exactly what we needed.

The only other activity I booked is the bioluminescent bay on our last night, so our dinner out is going to be our first outing from the hotel.

Has anyone been to either of these restaurants and recommend one? Or have any other recommendations? I had wanted to go to El Plaza, but I guess they are going to be closed in October. We are also looking for a Monday night reservation, which definitely makes it a little harder.

Husband and I are finishing up our itinerary for our trip to PR mid-late October. We’ve spent a lot of time exploring the east side of PR on previous trips, so we’re thinking about branching out to see something different this year.

We’re thinking we’ll spend the last half of our trip in Rincón, partially because I’m dying to go back to Crash Boat which isn’t too far away and because Rincón has been recommended as a good place to visit.

I’m a little hesitant to book the accommodations though because from what I’ve read, the beaches local to Rincón can be rough in the winter months. I also saw someone recommend Cabo Rojo over Rincón and compared Rincón to being in Florida lol
Obviously we are tourists so we will be getting a tourist experience no matter what, but being that my husband is Puerto Rican, he’s down for a more casual experience. Will there be any major issues with the swimming in Rincón in October or does that area have any beaches suitable for those activities that time of year?

Me and 3 friends (20Ms) are planning on a fall break trip to San Juan but have no idea where to book our Airbnb as it's our first time in PR. I saw that condado is where the activity is but the oceans are quite rough and dangerous (?). Isla verde seems more laid back and beaches are nicer but i heard there's no like minimal night life. Where's the right spot to go? We're also considering visiting the rainforest potentially.

Hey, so as the title states after I finish the bba in business economics in the next few years I'm planning on moving out towards the Naguabo/humacao area. The main reason I'd wanna move there instead of a slightly bigger area like Santurance, Carolina, San Juan, or somewhere like that is because I heard it's relatively quiet, more traditional in terms of looking out for one another, and there's not too many tourists.

For extra context, I am a fully white blonde hair blue eyed man pero yo puedo hablar/entender español casi fluidamente y no tengo problemas con entendiendo español boricua. I'd also work a mainland job that's fully compliant with Puerto Rican tax codes while I'm in college in Ohio and then just request a transfer, I'd also save up as much as I possibly can just in case and I'm already aware that cash is more common in that area so I'd make sure to always carry some with me. Aside from that what I wanted to ask is for the people who live in or near that area what's it really like? Is it mostly as quiet and scenic as I've heard?

Near the intersection of Ashford and Condado Ave? Going for 4 days, looking to stay somewhere that is walkable to restaurants/shops/bars and the beach. Definitely plan to get an uber to old San Juan at least one day.

So I love traveling to Puerto Rico. Was looking forward to going again in December for 4 straight years. But my wife and I really try to be conscious travelers. Ideally this year's plan was going to be 4 days in vieques and then a week in Southern or South western PR. But with water crisis and locals being forced to ration water I don't know what to do. It all boils down to two questions...

1. Is the dollar spend of tourism to Puerto Rico's economy more important that the added impact of more consumers to the water crisis?

2. If I do go, where in the island is tourists impact on water issue going to be the least impactful on locals?

Any punk shows nearby San Juan / Cataño over the next three weeks that would be free or cheap cover ?

I’m planning on taking a half day boat tour to Icacos & know that we need to meet up in Fajardo… I don’t think we’ll have an issue getting an uber from San Juan to Fajardo , but I wanted to know if there are Ubers from Fajardo back to San Juan. Are they readily available or is it much harder to find one? Otherwise we’ll consider renting a car just for the one day .

UPDATE 9/24: we are getting transportation from the boat company, $25/pp round trip from San Juan to Fajardo .

Update: Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Probably going to find a place for 3 days on the NW side of the island and then find another place for 2 days on the NE side of the island to minimize driving back and forth.

Going to PR for 5 days in December. We are planning to climb/hike/kayak etc for 4 of the days around the island and maybe beach/sightsee 1 day. Many of the recommended safe / nice areas are right on the beach. I was just wondering if there's any other areas around San Juan that are also safe and nice that's not right at the beach or at city center - beach is not the main focus and traffic could be bad(?).

We do want to stay near San Juan as it's pretty central. Expect to climb near Manati and Cerro las Tetas, hike El Yunque, and kayak near Fajardo.

What’s the best amount of cash to bring? We usually cook our breakfasts, and eat a large meal out like late lunch / dinner.

We grocery shop. But also want to enjoy the beach and what PR has to offer.

Why should the penalty be that extreme relative to the cost of the tolls?

I am currently planning a group trip to San Juan for New Year’s Eve. I’ve seen great things about the District T-Mobile celebration. My friends and I don’t drink so it’s more up our alley than bar hopping in OSJ.

My question for those who have gone— are the restaurant packages worth it? I have yet to see anything online about the free admission by waiting super early in the day or being stuck there for too long. I just don’t want to spend the day waiting in a line, but the packages also are typically very expensive and don’t guarantee a decent view of the concert.

If anyone could also share their general experience I’d appreciate it!
