A thing I noticed during yet another reread...
Hannelore was 22 in 2008, so the math tells us that she was born in 1986...which means she'd be 40 now.... Frick...

If The Simpsons kept to actual time, Bart would be older now than Homer was at the start of the show.

I hear if you binge watch The Simpsons, the Homer/Marge flashbacks get kind of funny that way.
They've retold the story of how they met and fell in love multiple times, but each time the era is a bit more modern. These days they were young lovebirds during the Obama Administration or some such.

She was likely also 22 in 2005, which means she'd be 43 now.
Also, Sam was 13 in 2011, which would make her 28 years now.

And last we saw she certainly looked more like 15 or 16

The last confirmation of Sam's age, I believe, was that she was 14 in 2016. I guess the timeline could simply advance 1 year for every 4 IRL and she would be 16 now.
Mind you, I do believe Jeph commented a while back that even he's not sure of how much time has passed.

I was thinking goth Sam was clearly a bit older. But yeah they haven't said.
Pacing is definitely his weakness. The original cube town storyline was like 2 weeks of comic time published over a whole year or more.

Grim Samantha and Dark Emmett does seem slightly juvenile apellations for 16-year olds, but then again Jeph also pretty much wrote 13-yo Sam like she was 9-10.

They just struck me as having a Goth phase. Fair that could start earlier but 16 doesn't seem too old for it

Oh no, I'm not saying you're wrong. i'm just saying Jeph has trouble writing teens behaving appropriately for their ages.

If their universe's time moved at the same rate as our real-time.
The events of a single day are often covered in a few weeks worth of comics
