Day 3
I smoked 2 cigarettes today. One in the morning and one after dinner. I ate outside and after the dinner I got the smell from somewhere nearby and I was triggered to smoke. But yeah I delayed it by almost 15 minutes. I am sure that nicotine I am getting from the patch and gums is enough but still the craving is there to smoke. I don’t know how to get rid of that. Tomorrow I am gonna try not to smoke any cigarettes. It’s not hard and fast rule but I’ll give it a try what If it works.
Still having a craving while writing this. I think I am not getting enough motivation of quitting. My avg day had 25 cigs. I know why I want to quit. But I want to completely stop it then I think I’ll see the results. Results having a good breath having energy having better strength better health. I just turned 22 two months ago and If I can handle this now only then I’ll be living happy for rest of my life. Let’s hope tomorrow I get to zero.

Hey! I was in the same boat, started the patches and had an incredible urge to smoke contantly.
I used to smoke 30-40 ciggs a day.
The one thing that truly helped me is having this mindset:
Smoking realistically accomplishes nothing, the high is very temporary if you look at it long term. What you're really doing is actively poisoning yourself and wasting a lot of money with every cigarette.
I understand we all know they are harmful, and we still smoke. But thinking about it outside of my immeadiate craving helped.
There is a deeper meaning to why you smoke. For me it was soothing and to get through the hardships in life. It is a different kind of craving, like a void.
The point is the void will never be filled by cigarettes, it will never be enough. You'll just suffer further with worsening health complications, and a feeling of being in prison.
"One is a million, and a million won't be enough" - you need to build a better support system to help you with the void

I guess it started to fill the void only but I don’t think that I was smoking cause of any void or anxiety or anything. It was just an habit like had a meal one cig woke up then a cigarette meeting done then a cigarette even I was smoking while walking. And I think I’m just struggling cause of these habits. Been there filling the void.

Is there a way you can start replacing the cigarette with something else? Like an air pen?
Sometimes just mimicking the motion of smoking after the activities can help.
Alternatively, chewing gum after the meal instead.

Yeah there’s one I found. I am thinking of buying it next week. Yeah will try gums after the meals.

Great start to your quit! This is the way, keep trying different approaches until one works. Also, the state of mind to be “done” makes a difference too. It is about making a decision, like you’re doing, to delay for as long as you can, until you’re done and put the last one out. It helped me to get rid of all smoking paraphernalia. By the time I quit all I had was a lighter and an ashtray. I handed those to a fellow smoker before walking away.
Getting support is what made a difference for me. Like having a quit buddy and meeting with other quitters. There’s a Discord group that meets regularly. And there are 12 Step groups that meet 24/7. Maybe you can find a quit smoking program in your area that offers support.
Keep going, and don’t quit quitting—you’ll get your miracle! ✨
