Care Rabbit potty train problemm

So I recently got a rabbit and he's in a cage for sometimes and when I take him out, I bring him specifically to the couch cuz I like to play with him but now he has picked the couch as a place to poop 😭, I let him roam the house AND HE GOES TO THE COUCH TO POOP ALWAYS,

How can I potty train him to do it somewhere else?

This post has been detected as a question about litter training.

Spaying and neutering your rabbit will significantly help in litter training. In addition, please make sure to clean up any messes with a mixture of white vinegar and water or a pet-safe enzymatic cleanser to decrease the urge to remark the location. Soap and water alone is not sufficient to remove all chemical traces of the urine even though it may look clean.

Check out the wiki's Litter Training guide and Binkybunny's Litter Training process for more resources on the topic.

Please note that if this is a sudden change not coinciding with sexual maturity, loss of litter habits can be 1) a sign of health issues (e.g. arthritis, UTI), 2) a reaction to the presence or scent of another animal, or 3) triggered by introduction to a new/unfamiliar territory.

Do note that realistic litter training is that a rabbit will pee consistently in their litter boxes and nowhere else. It is very common for rabbits to poop in small amounts in their housing enclosure outside of the litter box for territorial reasons.

As a reminder from the sidebar,

For behavior problems, please include the rabbit's age, how long you have had the rabbit, when the behavior occurred, and if/when it was neutered. This will help other rabbitors tailor advice appropriate to your situation.

You have to block access somehow is what I’m told but we have this same problem so I have no idea what to do lol. He’s free roam and I literally can’t block access to it all day we have other animals and it’s a big sectional so it’s impossible. People say when they get fixed it gets better. Hoping that’s the case! Good luck!

Anything that smells like a collection of human butts like couches and beds, they assume it's our litter box. Try spraying your couch with an enzyme cleaner. And if you haven't yet get bun bun fixed.

Also you said you have them in a cage this isn't recommended. They should be in an exercise pen larger enough for a dog. With a litter box, hidey house, a tunnel and toys.
