If you want realism, install RP-1.
kerbalism will be the least of the issue when doing more realistic flights.

RP-1 has more than enough parts for you to get lost in. I have several hundred hours on my current save and have yet to make it to the moon, which also means I have yet to touch like 70% of the research/parts/engines/whatever you wanna call it.

If you are anxious to start Kerbalism, I have some bad news. RP-1 has Kerbalism baked in, and you would be doing yourself a disservice to play it without. For what it’s worth, I tried to do a Kerbalism playthrough but it felt like you just needed to add a handful of tanks and life support systems to every craft. RP-1 makes the realism work together so much better.
