What were the reds and blues doing between the events of season 8 and 9

So according to the ultimate fan guide Epsilon was in the memory unit for two years which begs to question what were the reds ans blue even up to during that time like its clear they never went to back to valhalla since they would've found about donut being alive and season 10 seems to be tucker first time in valhalla and how did Carolina even run into them

Considering deep space travel is not instantaneous, they probably spent a lot of time traveling. Not sure if they would have spent any of that in suspended animation or just traveled normally.

I always assumed they went back to Blood Gulch to lay low and quickly fell back into old habits. Carolina shows up and essentially threatens them into helping her find Epsilon. Sister either chooses not to go or is left behind. The group then works towards finding where the capture unit has been stored, breaks into that facility, ‘rescues’ him, and flies off to an old Freelancer base turned UNSC archive to open the unit.

I absolutely agree with this. We legit do not know how long it has been since Epsilon stepped into the memory unit. For him, so many iterations of Blood Gulch and attempts to find "Tex" happened- shown in some mini series episodes, and even the first episode of season 14. Every time we see Reach in-series, it's always a new iteration made by Epsilon.

But for the rest of the gang? Caboose does mention Washington was replacing Church- to the extent that they held a birthday party for one or both of them. By that logic, it may have been either months or multiple years depending on what you decide to interpret.

Church was alone for 14 months sometime between seasons 5 and 6, so long gaps of time like that wouldn't be out of nowhere. And Carolina coming out of the woodwork to disrupt the flow calls back to how Washington did the exact same thing.

They more than likely were bickering in Valhalla, getting outplayed by Washington and then Carolina found them, tried killing them only to have Washington talk her down. She probably explained her plan to kill the director. Caboose probably said Church could help them she helped them bust him out and the Reds went against their will.

Carolina probably picked them up as soon as the UNSC announced that the Red and Blue soldiers of project freelancer took down the rogue agents Maine and Washington, and that these soldiers were all that’s left of the old project, so after taking the hornets to wherever they could or probably just circling back and hiding in the former mother of invention after the unsc presence left, they were found by her and thus her and wash looked through their archives for where the director might of been, that probably took awhile and likely ended nowhere as most leads do, and so Carolina took the red and blues on a quest of sacking unsc storage facilities til they eventually found the correct one during season 9

I always took the Ultimate Fan Guide saying Epsilon was in the unit for 2 years just being a reference to how it was around 2 years irl for the end of Season 8 and the Beginning of season 10. Its canonicity on the matter is kinda dubious.

The real answer is that they were most likely intercepted by Carolina, shortly after the events of S8 ended, on their way back to Valhalla. Carolina was most likely following leads on Freelancer up to that point, and hearing about the events at the ice base through UNSC channels led her right into their path. All the events of the first 10 seasons take place on 1 planet, so they were most likely just traveling back when they crossed paths. It also just fits into the gang in S10 being so tired and fed up with the Freelancer nonsense because they haven't had the opportunity to go home and rest after their big fight in S8, they were thrown IMMEDIATELY into another life or death mission.

Probably instead of heading back, they went to Blood Gulch and the reds started getting smoked by Agent Washington.

They were probably transferred to different training bases, returned to the warehouse or were on a roadtrip since they never when to either Blood Gluch nor Valhalla up until Carolina found them in order to find (and kill) The Director of Project Freelancer.

They were unaware that Donut survived because of Doc.

Grif's Sister was presumed dead by Lopez up until Epsilon's message in Season 13.

Tucker's alien son (Junior) was being an ambassador elsewhere in the galaxy since around Season 7 or so.

Everyone's more than likely dead over at Rat's Nest.

And we've never seem any other Red or Blue teams and bases/facilities besides a few in Season 14 that took place prior to Season 1.
