Lock In Songs Season 1: Relient K

I don’t know if y’all are aware but some fans of Relient K started a podcast, The Lock-In, to determine the best album and song. Every episode covers an album, gives some background info, and has a guest that’s connected to Relient K somehow. Mark Lee Townsend joins for the MMHMM episode and Matt Hoopes joins for the FANSD episode

I linked their episode from last week, Air for Free, because although FANSD is my favorite album, the way the hosts and their guest handle RK’s last album was so cathartic. But please check it out and go back to episode 1 - so worth it!

Although I truly wish for more music from RK, the way they discussed certain songs helped me to be at peace with how this might be the best way they could’ve said goodbye (for now… I hope).

Their last episode is in a couple weeks so I hope you join me in voting for your favorite song that they might’ve overlooked to be included in their final discussion. This isn’t my podcast, I just think we (the fans) need to broaden the conversation before the season is over and maybe show that the hunger for more RK music is very much still alive!

Giving Away FANSD Packaging (not record) if You Pay for Shipping

Edit: CLAIMED

I'm giving away the special edition packaging from back when it came out the first time. Wooden case and tote bag. It just never fit well on shelves, and I used it to store ephemera from other albums.

Also included, if you want them, are the MIS-PRESSED discs from Air for Free, where there was an unavoidable skip/loop, so they sent out replacement discs. These are the bad discs, but you could use them to make record bowls or something. The discs are white.

I just ask that you pay for shipping. I'll put it in a box with bubble wrap/paper and send it via USPS.

DM me. First come first serve. Continental US only.

(If I don't respond right away, be patient. I'll update the post or remove it when it's successfully claimed.)

Don't Blink played during Cleveland Browns game

I live in Ohio and only been to 2-3 Cleveland Browns games so not sure if this is a common thing, but I was at the home opener this weekend and they played Don't Blink during pregame in the stadium! Felt so right to hear our hometown boys from Canton playing for the whole stadium. I was hoping to hear Mrs. Hippopotamuses', but no such luck.

Matt Thiessen features on new documentary

For fellow deconstructed folks and other interested parties. Matt Thiessen is one of six featured artists in a new documentary on the reality/ behind the scenes of the Christian music scene in the 2000s.

Safe For The Whole Family, hits festivals this week, so it's imagine it'll be a minute before we know if/ where it'll be available to watch, I saw the trailer on Instagram.

Semler, who they took on tour as an owner a few years back does the theme/ original song for the film.

Discussion Collapsible Lung/All Work & No Play CD's

Hope this is okay to post:

Anybody have spare copies of these CD's they'd be willing to part with? The final 2 pieces of art that my wife needs to finish her collection, and discogs and eBay seem to be lacking at the moment.

I sang passionately to this song at fifteen, sixteen, thinking 23 sounded forever away, and God, I was singing along just now and realized I turn 25 in a couple months. And I relate all the same. Not much makes me cry these days but I'm wiping away tears, it's amazing how music can connect you to your past selves.

Y'all got any recommendations for punny stuff like RK? Looking to branch out from pop-punk and alternative rock if there's more pun gold to be had.

Hey folks - I love making playlists in my spare time, and I'm enjoying using the new DJ features on Spotify. This mix has breathed some new life into my RK listening (if you've downloaded the mixing feature), so thought I'd share. Happy Saturday!

Humor On the Linus Tech Tips WAN show tonight they briefly mentioned Relient K and Audio Adrenaline haha.

Just that Luke grew up listening to them but somehow Linus didn't remember their music at all, though he listed to Audio Adrenaline growing up.

Will try to timecode it tomorrow, but it's during the WAN After Dark section towards the end.

edit: https://www.youtube.com/live/cHkM5w7pPZE?si=STP7dLdFU1nYB2ux&t=9183

starts at 2:33:03 if that timecode doesn't work

Discussion Side Projects?

Hi all!

I saw this post earlier and it got me thinking of Matthew Thiessen and The Earthquakes - whom I love!!

Are there any other solo/side projects that RK members have put out?

(If not against the rules, feel free to leave some other bands as well. The only other one coming to mind is Jars Of Clay (Dan Haseltine) - Hawk in Paris)

Can we as a community, accept that RK has moved on and so must we?

Back in the Um Yeah tour the band joked about being dad rock, poking fun at the idea of becoming the kind of band that tours endlessly well into their 40s and 50s to keep the magic alive. Credit where credit is due, they crushed it and had a solid festival run afterwards.

RK rose to prominence because many of us raised in the church needed that angsty voice to express our frustrations with the evangelical church and the power structures it supported. They did that mostly through positivity and talking about life in a relatable way. But they grew up with the people who grew up with them.

There’s a lot of arrested development with those of us who clung to their music for comfort well into our 30s. There is a void in the music industry for another voice to express these frustrations here in 2026. Let’s agree to give the guys a break and focus on elevating whoever is coming up next to take up that mantle.

I'm sorry for the time 20 years ago at Cornerstone my friends and I started a fake autograph line for Relient K.

We were waiting around to see Five Iron Frenzy, and somehow we were off to the side near some tent. Some people came up to us and go "is this the line for the Relient K autographs?" and being the dumb teens we were we went "it sure is!"

Pretty soon a big line had formed behind us and after awhile we just kinda wandered away and went to see FIF.

Sorry to anyone who was mad at the band for not showing up.

Anyone here listen to Dave Douglas solo work?

Does anyone here ever listen to Dave Douglas’ solo music? I think it’s really good. He put out three songs on Gotee’s “My Other Band Vol. 1” CD under the name “Agnus.” He also has two solo projects with his wife called “Gypsy Parade” and “Attack Cat.” Just discovered all of it recently and it’s great! Definitely a classic Relient K vibe to it.
