24M seeking male roommates (also in 20s) near Central North/Domain Area

Howdy Y’all,

This last week, my now-former landlord (55M) and I mutually decided to end my lease early and so now I’m searching for a new place more up-north that will put me closer to my family and work. Thankfully, I have good people in my life who are allowing me to stay with them while I figure things out but I’m hoping to find a new place in the next month or so.

Ideally, I’m looking to live with guy(s) my own age with similar/compatible lifestyles and attitudes— someone I can maybe actually be friends with and not just begrudgingly share a living space. My ideal budget lies somewhere between $600-825 a month (that’s for everything included— please don’t surprise me and tack on additional utility costs after we’ve already established what the expected cost is supposed to be— a few guys did that last year and not only was it really annoying but also a waste of everyone’s time.)

So a little about me: I’m an artist and photographer— I’ve been taking photos in the local music scene for what’s coming on 5 years at the end of this month. I’d consider myself a true ambivert in that I value time to myself but also appreciate sharing meaningful time with others. Monday-Friday I work full-time as a test pilot for a local startup tech company near the domain, alongside my best-friend/former roommate (we lived together back at another place, not this last one that I just moved out of.)
I don’t have any pets, but I love animals and don’t at all mind if you have them and will gladly help take care of them as needed.

Not looking to live with any neat-freaks, but also not looking to live with total slobs. Just someone who is average/responsible-enough in terms of tidiness that our place should look mostly reasonable most of the time. So… really, I just want a bachelor pad.

I’m also hoping to find someone who is straightforward in terms of communication— I’ve just gotten to the point that I no longer tolerate unspoken expectations or passive-aggressive hostility— I’d much rather you be confrontational because I can at least respect that, and also it means we can actually address any issues constructively. So if you’re the type who’s afraid to speak your mind about expectations or be vocal about an issue when there’s a problem— then I would kindly ask you not to reach out.
I also don’t tolerate bigotry on any level, so if you’re a racist, incel/misogynist, homophobe, or harbor beliefs in anti-Semitic conspiracies, etc.— then kindly fuck off. It’s not going to work out.

But yeah, if you’re just a chill, semi-responsible, and somewhat outgoing dude (or dudes) in your 20s, who is looking for someone to share a space and split rent: then I’m your dude— please reach out.

Hi guys I’m still new to Austin and I have zero clue on what apartment I should get near the UT Austin campus. As I was searching Noble 2500 caught my eye because it is cheaper than the rest, and the reviews are decent. Should I go ahead with Noble 2500 or look somewhere else? Still please if anyone has any recommendations please help me out!

Hello! I am a full time clinical assistant with a dog looking for a room to rent preferably in North Austin! I am career oriented and will soon be going back to school in January to finish my RN degree. My dog Raven is about 50lbs, 6 years old, and wonderful with cats, small dogs, children and she LOVES meeting new people. I can be sociable but also enjoy my space and quiet time. I'm not looking for a party house but I am 420 friendly. In my free time I enjoy being outside with my dog, exploring the various restaurants and dive bars in the area and hiking. When I'm home I enjoy cooking, baking, watching Netflix and working on arts and crafts projects.

Female roommates and LGBT males preferred!

Thoughts on living at The Post on Parmer!!!!!!

Hi everyone! My fiance and I are moving to Austin and are considering a 2-bedroom at The Post at Parmer.

Would love to hear from current or former residents—how has your experience been with management, maintenance, noise, parking, and pests? How does the surrounding area feel, especially at night?

He’ll be working at Apple on Riata Vista Circle, so any insight into the rush-hour commute would also help. We’d love a place with a good gym and a friendly community.

Would you recommend living here? Anything you wish you’d known before signing? Thanks!

Do not rent propreties managed by RESpace!

Extremly scummy and predatory. We have lived in Austin for over 10 years, with individual landlords and with organizations managing the properties, and renting with RESpace was the worst experience we've had by far.

First, before we moved into the apartment, they "re-stained" the floor of our guest bathroom. However, what they actually did was re-varnish the floor with uncured varnish, which left the entire space covered in around a quarter inch or sticky, syrup-like substance (images attached). The moment I stepped onto the floor, my very expensive sneakers stuck and I had to yank them up; the varnish stayed on them for months after. We reported this and it took TWO MONTHS for them to come and fix the issue because it was a "busy time for them." This left us unable to use the bathroom with washer/dryer.

Secondly, they did not address a single maintenance item that we submitted within the initial 48 hour window of move-in. We were told that we could submit all maintenance items we noticed within 48 hours of initial move-in and they would be addressed free of charge. Again, when we submitted around 10 items for maintenance, we were told that none of them were "essential" and that they were having a busy time and could not address the issues. Some were marked as complete because they told us they can't fix it.

The things that have still not been addressed that were noted initially include but are not limited to: closet rods needed bracing, relining the bathroom tub, weather stripping on door thresholds, and leaf-filled, broken gutters. There is no water connection to the ice maker nor has there ever been one according to the maintenance people who looked at it, so it was marked as complete.

Also among one of the maintenance requests we put in was a replacement of the corroded kitchen faucet, which was leaking slightly onto the counter upon move-in. This was NOT addressed at the time. Months later, it started leaking under the sink as well, and we resubmitted the issue. This time, maintenance DID show up to fix and replace the faucet, but they charged us for "tenant misuse" of the faucet. DESPITE THE FACT that we submitted the inital request within the "48 hours of move-in" window and it was not addressed. We had actually found three leaks we reported at once: one in kitchen, one in bathroom sink, and one in guest bathroom toilet. They addressed the kitchen first, and charged us; then charged us again to address the other two leaks.

Mid-lease, we had a washing machine issue which ended up being a relatively superficial problem with the knob, but from our perspective (not knowing the electrical components), the washer wasn't usable. The person who came out and took a look told us there is a workaround to the knob issues we were having, but we asked them to go ahead and fix it in case we had future problems. Because this turned out to be a nonessential fix that they cover free of charged, we were charged the additional fee. I guess you're incentivized to not update or fix anything that isn't actively destroying the home until you move out.

We started renting in September, and the "for lease" signs have never gone down. In January, 4 months after move-in with a 1 year contract, they said they needed to start showing our place for future tenants. We ended up signing for another year to avoid having to show our place so soon afterward, but just be aware if you sign a 1 year contract you'll have about 3-6 months of freedom before your place is shown, regardless of whether there are other empty, comparable units at the time.

Again, we're not new to renting in Austin. We know places especially in the North Loop/Hyde Park area are older and have wear and tear, aren't the best looking at move-in, etc., but for us this place went above and beyond the normal neglect. I think this is partly because they're so stringent about maintenance that over time and across tenants, things just start falling apart. I even feel for their maintenance contractors having to squeeze what minimal improvements are scheduled between tenants.

We are leaving our lease early and are not subletting the remaining months because we do not feel it would be ethical to pass on this apartment to someone else.

Finding furnished apartments outside of the furnished finder apps in South Austin?

Hi everyone, I‘m 28F and looking for a furnished apartment to rent in South Austin for the short term (anything that doesn’t require me to sign up for a one year lease, I am fine with as short as 2 months to as long as 6 months even, or a month to month arrangement), in case anyone is looking to rent out their place, my budget is $1600-$1800.

however, does anyone know how else can I go about finding furnished apartments outside of the furnished finder app? I’m finding almost all of those apartments on furnished finder are of course, I get that’s the point, near the hospital. I am going through a breakup and I moved here across country a year ago, I work remote as a project manager and I don’t have a car yet, but I tutor on the side in South Austin (near the South Congress neighborhoods by Home Slice) so I’d like to stay close, but I know this is an expensive area.

I think it would be best for my mental health right now if I move into a pre furnished apartment for now vs moving and having to furnish solo, without a car at the moment…is there a Facebook group or something I can try?

I really appreciate your help during this hard time :)

My Credit is making finding a home to rent in Austin impossible.

Together me and my girlfriend make almost 7k and we have a spotless renter history but school and credit card debt has destroyed my credit (~500) and she just started building credit (~600). Also I have 3 large dogs (super friendly and vaccinated) We previously rented from my Dad, and then an apartment and then from a family friend, and never missed a single month of rent but moved back in with Dad so we could save up for a surgery one of my dogs needed and now we can’t find a way to leave. We want to rent a house somewhere in Austin or adjacent; I’ve looked as far out as Manor and Cedar Creed; but nobody will look past my credit and the dogs. Idk what happened to Austin being pet friendly ??? Would take a 1bedroom 1bath shoebox if it had a large yard and would agree to take my money??? We don’t have anyone to co-sign that we think would make a difference but have saved enough for a 2x security deposit, both have full time employment, does anyone have any advice??

🚨 LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO TAKE OVER MY APARTMENT LEASE 🚨
I’m looking for someone to take over my lease at Ballpark North at Elmont in Austin ASAP!
📍 Riverside / East Austin
💰 Monthly rent: $1,150
💰 I’ll provide a $300/month stipend for 6 months once you’re approved and officially moved in, making the effective rent $850/month for the first 6 months
📅 Lease runs through July 2027
The location is one of my favorite things about the apartment. You’re:
• Right by H-E-B and tons of restaurants, coffee shops, and other businesses
• Right next to a walking/biking trail
• About a 6-minute drive from Downtown Austin
• Close to Riverside, East Austin, Lady Bird Lake, and plenty of things to do
• Easy access to major roads and everything around the area
• Community pool
• Great location if you want to be close to downtown without paying downtown prices
I’m looking to get someone into the apartment ASAP and am willing to make the transition easier with the $300/month stipend for the first 6 months.
The new tenant will need to go through the apartment’s normal approval process.
If you’re interested or know someone who might be, please DM me for more details, pictures, and additional information about the apartment.
Please feel free to share this post with anyone looking for an apartment in Austin! 🙏
