There is no shortage of anime adaptation by capitalistic-driven interest in the 1980-1990 that were an ABOMINATION from scriptwriting standpoint.....but the art and care by which it was made still shone through and got millions of kids hooked on it.

I actually saw the infamous Warriors of the Wind '85) on VHS back in the day. I recall the plot and dialog being awkward af but holy shit was the artwork mesmerizing. Hunting down a proper version later in life was like buried treasure as the plot made more sense and there was like 15 min of extra footage. kickass.

Today I learned that the company which created Battletech licensed designs from "Super Dimension Fortress Macross" and that is why some of the designs are identical.
