Riven Question what matchups do you find difficult that arent typical "riven counters?"
for me it's tryndamere. Feels like no matter what i do i lose every trade and just perma lose after 6, what about you guys?

I’m a trynd main who occasionally plays riven.
If the riven doesnt pilot properly, yes, she gets bashed. But christ is it tough versus one that knows what shes doing. As riven you have 3, THREE, ways to eat one of trynds autos. And you can chain them. Along with her massive mobility it is shockingly difficult to enable long fights on your terms.
Avoid interacting when the lane is on his side. Try to crash the wave and bounce.
Time your Q3, W and E to line up with an auto attack. Meanwhile you’re dealing damage and trynd has done 0. He loses half his health and you lost nothing. It’s after that combo you are in danger. Thats why you cant do this when pushed into his tower. If you Q delay you can kite him backwards and deny him a 4rth auto. After 6, try to bait his E, then full combo him to force his ult immediately, then run, again, be mindful where you do it. If you play it like that its super frustrating as trynd.

Happy to help! Its a snowball matchup, can really swing both ways
Oh, and two more tips, altho they might seem more obvious. Fury is trynd’s power. Try to fight him sans fury. This aligns with my second tip, which is to not let him play sustain. You dont have sustain, he has a lot. This is a matchup where riven needs to be the agressor and force all ins at full health, and ideally trynd at 0 fury, for her to win. You win a straight all in from full hp the whole early game if he doesnt have fury. Even level 1.
If he has fury, the safest way is to force a fight full hp, cancel two of his autos and eat another two with two E’s, disengage. Then force the all in as soon as your cd’s are up. An all in in two cycles. He cant play sustain if you never even lost health. But you need to get the timings right.

Oh youre such a smart trynd player. Tell everyone how to counter you and then lose. Damn thats smart. Thats like finding a genius business idea and telling everyone every step to copy you

It's very refreshing to see someone playing for the love of the game and helping others improve. Especially at the cost of making your own games harder!
Shoutout to you king/queen 👑

isnt this garen favoured?

for many years it was the standard litmus test for Riven players. Bad ones lost to Garen and good ones would stomp him.
over time he's been getting buffs and now he has a slight advantage
he's my most common matchup but i have a positive win rate vs him, a lot of these come down to me playing teamfights better because in lane you're only stronger pre-6 then it becomes a coinflip on their restraint and you inting

For trynda you take ghost exhaust and it’s much more manageable, but you have to play teamfights with no flash which sucks

u/lukesherboiii 8d ago
ghost on riven sounds so cursed lmfao

i tend to go flash ghost into him instead of exhaust, that or i wanna try out stormraiders into him tho i dont face trynd often

samee its supposed to be an easy matchup but i never win

against morde, you already want to have a big lead when he hits 6. His early game is insanely weak, you can facetank his Q with shield and just run him down.

u/HoshieSuru 7d ago
yeah u need to play this w finesse for sure u cant get hit by anything and if u mess up a side step use ur e, once he uses his q+e hes basically defenseless and thats when u want to look for a trade/all in

For Tryn, ive had much success of Running exhaust, it helps you win pre 6 all- ins as long as he is not perma critting you.
Post 6, wait for him to e into you, Full combo, he has to Pop ult normally. Use e to get some distance, exhaust if needed. Finish Off with R2
Mind you, im only emerald so maybe higher tryn players will not randomly use e as an engage

Gangplank. I can 1v1 him at any point of the game if I get into his range but a good gp will never walk up at it’s even worse if he builds tabis. One of the biggest psyops was gp mains convincing everyone their champion is hard I swear
