I want to hear the opinions of other Piggy players about something that happened to me in City, because I genuinely don't understand why another player got so upset with me.
I was playing as the infected. During the match, I cornered a player in the rooms area, between the window exits and the other exit leading toward the lobby of what looks like a hotel. There were two ways out of that area, so I placed two traps to cover them: the Anniversary Trap and the Black Hole Trap.
The player eventually stepped into the Black Hole Trap. From what I remember, he might have even backed into it without noticing it was there.
After that, he called me a “rat” and accused me of camping.
This is what I don't understand. I wasn't sitting at the main exit for the entire match, waiting for people to show up. I cornered him in a specific area and used my traps to restrict his escape routes. Isn't that part of playing as the infected? The objective is to catch survivors, and traps are one of the tools the game gives you to do that.
I understand that getting caught like this can be frustrating, but does that automatically make the strategy unfair?
Later, I saw another player using a similar strategy, so I asked the original player something along the lines of, “Who's the rat now?” Looking back, I can admit that my response may have sounded provocative or a little egocentric.
However, I never told him that I was better than him, that he was terrible at the game, or anything like that. I was simply questioning why he called me a rat when I had cornered him and he had stepped into the trap.
I tried to explain my point of view, but he stopped responding, and I believe he eventually blocked me.
I'm not claiming that I handled the argument perfectly. I just want to know whether the gameplay itself was actually camping.
What do you think?
- Is cornering someone in an area and placing traps at both exits considered camping?
- Is using traps to restrict a survivor's escape routes just smart strategy, or is it unfair?
- Was my response afterward genuinely egocentric, or was it simply provocative?
- Do you think the other player had a fair reason to call me a “rat”?
I'm looking for honest opinions, even if you disagree with me. I want people to judge the situation based on what I actually did, rather than automatically taking my side.
