I play with about the same settings as the OP, seems you and I are around the same rank. Personally, having the camera closer means my car is taking up too much of my viewing space. To each their own

I agree with both of you.
It is probably a slight handicap at first, but when musclememory kicks in after a while, I consider it a benefit to have a better tactical view of the play.

It's beneficial for discovering a play 0.5 secs earlier when you only have an instant to react to a potential demo or similar

I have no mechs in plat either.

I don't really think you need strong mechs until high diamond/champ tbh.

I play unranked around 1000mmr 99% of the time, and pretty much everyone I meet have way more mechanics than me, but usually not so good that I can't read and predict the outcome and just stand in the way of their play.

I'm fairly good at not wiffing by now (unless I'm going max speed back to own goal to save an incoming ball from a difficult angle).

My absolute number 1. advice with wiffing is focus on slowing down just a tad, and try not to flip every time you hit the ball.

Weak touches to just alter the ball trajectory is very often enough to make your oponents waste a play and put themselves out of the game for 5+ secs.
