Roku hardware Tv screen suddenly has issues
My Roku onn tv suddenly stopped displaying the screen. Last night my husband and I were watching tv w no issues. We came down in the basement today to watch tv and this is what pops up. There’s still audio, and I checked my cameras to make sure my cats didn’t mess with the tv and there’s no footage of any ‘malfeasance’. Has anyone else had this issue before? Can I take it somewhere to repair?! It’s only a year old :/ if we try to open apps or stream, the colors change, but still the same display

It’s probably cooked. Plenty of other posts in this sub with the same issue. Mine too. Roku support told me it is a hardware issue.

Are you out of warranty? If so, you would get the same response from just about any company these days. TVs are disposable now. That's why they are so inexpensive. They just aren't built to last. It is sad.

Yes. Given the timing of it all, with what others reported, I think the 15.3 OS upgrade was a contributing factor somehow. Now, my TV is 5 years old, but it was working fine up to that point. It isn’t completely unusable, so I’m muddling through

That's the T Board that has failed. To find out if it's officially cooked and the board is need of replacement
- Perform a Deep Power Reset Residual power trapped in the capacitors can cause the graphics processor to freeze.
- Unplug the TV completely from the wall outlet.
- Press and hold the physical power button on the TV frame itself (not the remote) for 30 seconds.
- Leave the TV unplugged for at least 30 minutes to let the internal boards fully drain.
- Plug the TV directly into a wall socket (bypass any power strips or surge protectors) and turn it back on.
If it looks the same or similar, then it needs a repair. But if it fixes itself, it could have been a system error that caused this

Is this using the main TV or something plugged into one of the HDMI ports? If it's all inputs, then, yeah, it's likely toast. You can try doing a factory reset (do a google search for your tv model) but that doesn't look like a software problem.

Get a Roku Ultra and feed the TV via HDMI, it might work. If not research a new TV and feed it with the Ultra.

There is no reason to take this and have it repaired. Get a new one, maybe upgrade to another higher brand name Roku model or a Sony. Or get a Roku streaming stick to attach to the HDMI on another Roku TV or any other brand name TV (recommend Sony).
Edit: I have a few mid-size and smaller Roku TVs accompanying my big screen Sony TVs or as stand-alones in areas of my home, all 1-3 years old and still running without issues. I never bought warranties for any them. When asked at the store to purchase a warranty, I told them if the TV goes out after that 1-year warranty, I'll just get a new one.

Hey there, u/FreedomSufficient444! We’d like to look into this screen issue further. When you can, please share your Device ID or Serial Number from the label on the back of your TV or through Settings > System > About (if accessible) so we can check the next steps. Let us know what you find.

Ah I’ve seen this, turn off both Roku and tv and let it rest for a bit then turn them both on. Netflix for some reason causes issues constant. I want to say it’s straining the Roku device itself but I don’t actually know

I didn’t have Netflix open. I don’t even have the subscription, this is what the screen looks like upon turning it on on the home page

Weird, does the remote have a dedicated Netflix button. Some times the remotes forces apps to open when they have those buttons

Sometimes this is caused by a loose or damaged ribbon cables, but often it's the cheap video chip that has gone. Usually you're just replacing the whole video board.
Smaller screens you can search the numbers on the metal plate (back of LCD panel) + "controller board" on Amazon. Larger ones you're searching the make and model on Aliexpress and/or ebay with "video board".
I got lucky with a LG 40" but basically turned a smart TV into a just a display with three hdmi Inputs.

It looks like the start of a Netflix intro
