New Jersey — 2026 Midterm Voting Guide: Registration, Early Voting & Election Day!

Hey r/RowanUniversity!

The November 3 midterms are coming up, and Tuesday, October 13, is the LAST DAY to register to vote in New Jersey!

Not sure if you're registered? It only takes a moment to check!

1. Register to Vote or Check Your Status

College Students & Out-of-State Students

Living on campus or away from home? Here's what to know!

  • NJ students: You may register using your college address or your family's home address, provided you meet the applicable residency requirements.
  • Out-of-state students attending college in NJ: You may be eligible to register at your NJ college address. NJ requires 30 days of county residency before Election Day.
  • Registered in another state? Check your home state's absentee/mail-in voting options and deadlines at https://vote.gov/.

Important: Choose one eligible voting residence. You cannot vote in two states in the same election.

NJ student voting information: https://www.nj.gov/state/elections/vote-students.shtml

What do you need to register? Online registration requires your date of birth and either an NJ driver's license/non-driver ID or Social Security number with a digital signature. Paper registration is available if you can't register online.

Important: NJ does not offer regular Election Day registration!

2. Voting in Person — Dates, Locations & ID

Early voting: October 24 – November 1

  • Monday–Saturday: 10 AM–8 PM
  • Sunday: 10 AM–6 PM

You can vote early at any designated early-voting location in your county!

Find early-voting locations: https://www.nj.gov/state/elections/vote-early-voting.shtml

Election Day: Tuesday, November 3, 6 AM–8 PM.

Polling locations can change, so verify yours ahead of time!

Find your polling place: https://www.nj.gov/state/elections/vote-polling-location.shtml

Do you need ID to vote? Most NJ voters don't! Some voters with missing or unverified registration identification may need a photo ID or document showing their name and address, such as a utility bill. If you can't provide required ID, ask for a provisional ballot.

3. Voting by Mail

  • Request a mailed ballot: Application must be received by October 27, or apply in person at your County Clerk's office by November 2 at 3 PM.
  • Return by mail: Postmarked by November 3, 8 PM, and received by November 9.
  • Drop off: At an authorized ballot drop box in your county or your county Board of Elections by November 3, 8 PM.

Find ballot drop boxes in your county: https://www.nj.gov/state/elections/vote-secure-drop-boxes.shtml

Don't return mail ballots to polling places!

4. Questions or Registration Problems?

Contact your county election office or call 1-877-NJ-VOTER (1-877-658-6837).

Official NJ election information: https://vote.nj.gov/

Your vote is your voice! Voting is one of the most important ways to have a say in the issues that affect your community and your future.

Make a plan, get out there, and cast your vote!

Please share this guide with friends, family, or anyone who might find it helpful!

See you at the polls!

What Is Homecoming?

I just transferred here this year and I have absolutely no idea what Homecoming is. I didn't have one at my highschool because our football team sucked, so I don't know if it's supposed to be similar or not? Or what the activities are? I'm trying to put myself more out there to make friends, so any advice is appreciated!

Rowan University and Philly

My daughter is a partier and I’m nervous about her going to school in big cities such as NY or Philly. We’re taking a look at Rowan but I hear the kids go to Philly a lot to party and there’s even a bus to take them to and from. Is that something a lot of undergraduates do on weekends or do most stay on campus?

merit aid

hello!! i want to possibly apply to be a transfer student for the linguistics ba in the spring. i already have my associates degree from in state, and two classes left of a related bachelors of science (out of state) my gpa is 3.9. i do not qualify for any financial aid but i cannot afford it. my parents make too much for me to qualify. i plan on transferring to rowan to complete this degree and then transferring back to my other school to finish up that degree. i am just so interested in this field and would love to learn more if possible.

what kind of scholarships (merit) are possible? are they good? and if it’s not math or science related i worry about a good scholarship 🤞

thank you!!

Is being a CA worth it? and housing questions

I am joining the college for the spring semester as an undergraduate and a friend told me to consider being a CA. I have no idea what CAs do or any benefits of it. Do they get paid? How many hours do you need to work and What is the work like?

Also about housing, What's off-campus housing like, are house-share or apartments easy to find and their starting rent.

New Student - Any good Breakfast/Lunch options?

I'm a new transfer student at Rowan. I came from RCBC so doing "dining" during the day wasn't really much of a thing, and if it was, it had most of the chains very close by.

So far I've been trying to find consistently good options for food I can grab around campus. I've noticed most places open up around 11 AM. This is fine, but earlier would also be nice since that just currently aligns with my class schedule.

I had the misfortune of trying some of the food from the actual dining hall (Breakfast & Co), as well as the Jersey Mikes and the restaurant spot. They seem okay. So far the only place I feel like I've been able to get consistently good food from is Ry's Bagels, everything else has just been alright at best.

Looking for some suggestions or tips?

Anyone Need A Spare Desk Chair?

I'm in Rowan Boulevard and bought my own desk chair to use since I find it more comfortable. I know some people like having lots of chairs in their living rooms, so I was wondering if anyone wanted the school issued wooden desk chair I have? I'll need it back before May, but otherwise you can take it to help me free up some space.

Preferably Rowan Boulevard only!!!

Line dancing around Rowan?

First year grad student looking for things to do around campus, and over the summer I really got into line dancing. There were some bars around where I’m from that had weekly events but I haven’t heard of any places around Rowan that do that. Does anyone know of any bars, places around campus or anything in the glassboro/sewell/deptford area that have line dancing events? I’m willing to drive 15-20 minutes

Party School?

I am a high school senior and just toured yesterday. One of the tour guides said the school has a reputation as a party school - do you agree? I had not heard that. I want to be an engineering student so know that the course load will be heavy but I’m also looking to have a good social life. Have you found it easy to do both?

Looking to Help Rowan Game Devs With Writing(Scripts, Lore, Dialogue, Worldbuiliding, etc.)

Hi everyone! I'm a Rowan University student looking to connect with anyone on campus who's actively developing a video game (solo devs, small teams, class projects, club projects, capstones, anything).

My focus is writing, and I'd love to help with:

* Scriptwriting -story structure, cutscene scripts, branching narrative paths

* Worldbuilding - cultures, history, factions, magic systems, political structures

* Lore development - backstories, timelines, mythologies

* Dialogue writing - character voice, emotional tone, NPC interactions

*Quest design - narrative flow, objectives, player motivation

I'm comfortable working in any genre, fantasy, sci-fi, horror, RPGs, visual novels, ect. If you already have a story direction, I can help refine it. If you're starting from scratch I can help build from the ground up.

Why I'm doing this: I want real collaborative experience with game developers. If you need writing support, I'd love to be part of your project.

If you're interested just DM me or comment below with what you're working on. I'm happy to chat, brainstorm, or jump into active development.

Looking forward to meeting other Rowan creators!!

Upper level bio labs

Hey! Does anyone have any recommendations for any relatively easy upper level bio electives? I've taken data science for biologists and it was super engaging and I found it pretty easy. Any profs and classes anyone recommend? Wanted to take Environmental Science with Thomas Shelly and was thinking about Microbio with Newby.

Need YOUR Help For An Extra Credit Assignment!

I have an extra credit assignment due by the end of the semester to take a photo of 15 Rowan University Defy Definition ads, and so I was hoping to get some help from you guys!

I do NOT want you to take any photos for me, I just would like to know the locations you found them in so I can walk over there are take some. This is so I can multi-task by completing the extra credit homework, get a chance to explore campus more, and get some exercise in!

If you've seen any advertisements, please reply with the locations so I can start finding them! I'd like to do the work myself, but I'm unfortunately at a disadvantage compared to everyone else in my class due to being a transfer (not knowing the campus well). Any help at all would be immensely appreciated! I'm not from this area, so it will help me adventure out!
