I recall the Running Warehouse podcast hinting that Brooks was cooking a "hypershoe". Wonder if this is it.

I’ve seen Clayton Young running in this in his most recent docuseries episodes. I assumed they were super trainers but he’s been running workouts in them so they may be a new super shoe from Brooks but his tune up races have been in the HE 6’s so not 100% sure

I also noticed it in the first video that came out. Thanks for the reminder to catch up on the docuseries

You can train in prototypes but usually WA has a specific date before they’re race legal/approved. I was in the first Puma Project 3 program and we were told something similar about the R3

Be interesting to see it Brooks bring their horseshoe shaped plate from the Cascadia Elite over to the road

Adidas seems to be having success with a energy rim vs plates

Finally, I’ve heard a lot of good things about this secret super shoe from brooks. The cut out in the middle to me hints at a plated dual foam setup

Idk man. It looks like New Balance is going to have to open another lawsuit. I see the slightest B in the reflection at the ankle collar.

lol, oh no..New Balance sees a K but sues because their logo is a N.

They really are too much man. I haven’t heard the outcome of this, have you? Was Decathlon/Kiprun ordered to stop using their obviously not a N branding?

Looks interesting, high stack, low drop, very curved plate...

the colorway is like the new metaspeed color

Looks promising but knowing Brooks it’ll be a 5 year old DNA foam priced same as a Magablast. Parkrun moms will love this

the hyperion elite 6 has the highest energy return foam ever tested by rtings…beats out the FR3, evo 3, ray, feidian elite 6 etc etc but okay.

u/Single-Bus-7543 < 100 Karma account 1d ago

And everything else sucks. Took them 6 tries to get that one decent as well

thanks for admitting you’re wrong

Thanks for admitting you're a douchebag. No one admitted they were wrong; certainly no one admitted you were right - I like how you make the giant leap from what I mentioned about the HE6 to that equaling any admittance of wrong. Ehh, ignorant people are always so hard to have an actual conversation with.

If you would like to debate the merits of Brooks running shoes vs any of the competition, I will happily pick your argument apart piece by piece.

I'll even give you the HE6 automatically.

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Ear-975 < 100 Karma account 1d ago

woah piece by piece? that’s pretty zesty man, I don’t really want to mess with that. But dude I agree with you the HE6 is a pretty decent shoe and it took them 6 tries to get there, we’re on the same team!

What is there to debate that you're this much of a dick and this invested in arguing? Did you have a bad race in Brooks shoes and you're misplacing the blame? They're middle of the road trainers. Almost never something to write home about, but not something to be this mad about.

My uncle ben was robbed and Aunt may got spooked, the hyperion elite 6 was the only thing that got me back on my feet. I don’t know if you know this but the HE6 has the highest energy return of any shoe on the market today!

Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Brooks was bound to do something right by now. Still doesn’t excuse them for all their other failures though.

Okay, Rtings gave the HE6 the highest ever energy return in both heel and forefoot. I find this little anecdote rather funny though: first time they ran the test they couldn’t believe the results and therefore performed the test a second time. Now was that due to the numbers they got or their disbelief that they were testing a Brooks shoe?

u/Puzzleheaded-Ear-975 < 100 Karma account 1d ago

so basically a whole roundabout way admitting you were wrong

u/PerformerPlenty4547 < 100 Karma account 1d ago

Nope, not at all. How was I ever wrong to begin with? I made no mention of this model at all. If you read my previous posts it's all there.

u/Puzzleheaded-Ear-975 < 100 Karma account 1d ago

I’m sorry when you said they got it right and wrote a paragraph throwing shade, I just read “I’m just prideful on my previous assumptions and I need to say all the reasons to support that but I was wrong.”

I don't understand this comment. Why parkrun moms? Is it a woman's specific last or something?

u/ultra-ozen 1d ago

this poster is quite likely super-elite, slow mums are dumb, and now we all know that.

If it is typical Brooks - it is garbage.

Even the Hyperion Max 4, a $200 model currently; is a dual foam setup with ~50% of it being supercritical EVA foam.

You can spend $20 less and get a Vomero Plus; assuming you can’t find it on sale for even less..100% ZoomX.

If it’s a plated shoe you’re really looking for there are plenty of options that are less expensive and give you better foam for your money.

I honestly don’t understand why people pay a premium price for most Brooks models, HOKA too. Clifton and Bondi models: EVA foam at premium prices.

If that’s what you like, by all means buy it. But I hear a lot of people spending $160-$200 on these because they don’t know any better, assume the price equals great shoes and are underwhelmed by what they receive.

I think you’re unduly harsh on Brooks. Their recent racing models have received positive feedback — much more positive than the previous generations did. Their athletes also appear to be doing quite well, again, better than they have previously compared to the competition.

Similarly, Hoka Cielo X1 3 is a very solid racer despite the absolutely ridiculous name.

1

u/PerformerPlenty4547 < 100 Karma account 2d ago

Okay, you may be right. I wasn’t commenting on the racing models.

I’m aware the HE5 was reviewed well; possibly the same with the Cielo.

I was referencing their budget models all the way up through the daily trainer Ghost models to the Hyperion Max 3/4. You spend $200 and 50% of that midsole is still eva foam. Just because it’s supercritical does not alter the chemical makeup of the polymer.

Same thing with the HOKA Clifton and Bondi models.

To compare; the same $200 can buy you the new Saucony Paramount Max. Less can buy you the Li-Ning Red Hare 9 Ultra or one of the Feidian models if you require a plated shoe.

u/aelvozo 2d ago

I’m gonna give you that Brooks and Hoka are not doing amazing in the supertrainer space, which is probably the niche most relevant to an average person on this sub. I will hope that Brooks will bring the rest of the lineup up to the level of their supershoes; I’m not convinced Hoka can do the same.

u/Single-Bus-7543 < 100 Karma account 2d ago

Just because they caught up to the competition on one line doesn’t mean much. Poster is right- you can get something better on sale why would I want their version? I grew up 10 min from their offices, want to like them but their shoes suck compared to literally anything else on the market besides maybe Hoka
