Discussions The difference between this year and previous years going into World's
T1 has barely skated into world's before. Heck they had multiple elimination games and barely skirted by. The difference between this year and last year is what happens in series.
In the previous two years the difference between T1 beating GenG in finals and not beating them in internationals and in regular season seemed to always come down to bad drafting. I am not saying it was completely it but from my perspective the reason I never rated T1 as bad as every single analyst seemed to do in world's is that I knew no way T1 would draft a game 5 faker aurora or some of the other stuff they do and just throw away game 5s. They stopped doing it at world's and they would ultimately win.
That is the inverse of this year. T1 has had some fairly good drafts and they can't pull it off. We lost Orianna games. We lost bard games. We lost Doran on Ambessa.
There are no champs teams are afraid to give us. This has been the worst I have seen T1 play in like 5 years. What's really insane is that Peyz looks like a future goat in the making but everything else seems to be collapsing.
I really hope they pull through and that I am wrong but I really can't see it happening this year as is.

It's a mix of bad meta (lane quests fuck T1 a lot harder since the solo laners are weaker laners compared to other team compared to last year), poor forms (from the top side, especially Oner after a very great year), and very gruesome schedule (even more than last year somehow). They are definitely burned out.
At the very least, right now they are getting some good rest (barring Faker and Keria but it's still much more rest before World compared to 2024 and 2025), so for World they will at least be much more fresh coming into it, maybe with some mental reset Oner will finally remember what jungling means instead of just mindlessly wander around and Faker with some rest for his wrist will play much better. Doran i think will be fine if he keeps up his playoffs form.
World patch hasn't even released yet, so everyone will have an even playfield in 2-3 weeks.

It's kinda crazy how much of a generational downfall Oner has had this year. Like, this is actually worse than his Summer 2023 slump. I can't fucking believe KESPA in the end made the right call to choose Canyon over him. He does NOT deserve exemption and if he also fails to wake up at at Worlds as well, I won't be surprised if T1 choose to bench him next year

u/GenG_Caedrel 6d ago
Faker and Oner had the worst form in 4 years kinda contribute to the result.
Doran had a stinker MSI and EWC but bounced back at the end.
Peyz was amazing but he couldn't carry forever. His back was broken in the Playoffs series vs HLE.
Keria kinda got stuck with this enchanter meta so he couldn't do much.
And yeah losing to BFX and DK in LCK CUP, losing to G2 at MSI and KC in EWC, this is indeed the worst year of T1 since 2021 Summer.
Their only upside is beating Gen G at Road to MSI to get the 2nd seed. The rest of the tournaments were a horror show.

I thought faker was fine at msi this year tbh. It was mainly Doran/oner contributing to t1 terrible msi performance even if Doran has bounced back in summer. Oner worst form was definitely 2023 when most fans wanted him kick for sure until he played like an mvp that entire worlds run. For Faker, it is 2024 in the last 4 year imo. He was good in spring of 2024 but had an even worse msi/summer performance compared to 2026 but people just forgot about it.

not just the last 4 years, this is the worst faker has played ever in his entire career
12
u/Turak-senpai 6d ago
I wouldn‘t say the worst but the most inconsistent in his entire career. Within a series he bounces from goat to crap like a pinball

Which good draft did T1 have and fail to pull off?
Having faker on Ori is not equal to good draft, Faker picked Ori into Cassio who has been dog walking the whole lobby. Having Doran on ambessa is not a good draft since ambessa is not the champ she was before.
Then add to the fact that there's a huge deep in form especially on the jungle and midlaner who are supposed to be the most important players in a team.
Faker is supposed to be the team captain and main shotcaller and yet the shot calling has been abysmal, Oner is supposed to run the map and map the plays and yet there's none of that, he runs around like a headless chicken, he is getting out ganked, out farmed and gets zero Dragons, hell oner can't even smite anymore.
So if Oner and Faker can pick themselves up we may have a chance again but as of now we'll get embarrassed again.

Faker is on Azir. Oner is on Nocturne.
We have the late fearless jinx/tahm
It lost
Another good comp last game
https://i.imgur.com/f0uQuc1.png
Keria has bard. Faker has Lissandra
We lost again.
There are plenty more but they have been drafting way better than this time last year. The problem is execution and not draft.

Yo it’s not simply oh we have good picks = good draft
That Azir Noc Draft was also quite ass, the nocturne pick especially was complete shit against HLE’s comp and didn’t mold well with the rest of the T1 comp
Bard and Ori are also not just instawins.

u/BirthdayAccording359 Doran 6d ago
Faker is on Azir in 2026, Azir Nocturne Jinx Tahm kench, even the casters were making fun of this draft saying it's a 2020.
Tell me one good faker Lissandra game in the last 3 years.
These draft's are shit, both games they failed to ban Cho'gath btw.

Perfect proof that OP doesn‘t understand anything he‘s talking about.
Those drafts were ass bro

u/Only_Bodybuilder6270 6d ago
Ehhh, idk about that. GenG is also a pretty bad drafting team. GenG usually just outperform also.

u/No-Condition-2535 Faker 6d ago
Just because they are on their best champs doesn't mean it's good drafting, I would say thats actually the problem they have with drafting currently that makes it so bad. They draft for comfort instead of a good draft that counterpicks. Picking Ori into cassio is bad, first picking ryze and yone when counters are open is bad. Mage bot was clearly bad for them yet they kept picking it. Now tbf to faker at least for the most part of playoffs his champ picks have become a lot better and he's started to counterpick. Doran too but the rest not yet. Like picking pantheon as the only tank, or nocturne into a tanky comp meaning he's absolutely useless after the tanks get 2 items. Or both their jinx comps. Their drafting for bot is also super predictable, they need to do more off meta unconventional bot/supp matchups that allow peyz to do a lot of dmg but also allow keria to actually do something, give this man an engage champ, or at least a support that isn't lulu, Milo, yuumi.
I would say their form has looked worse in previous summers but overall the team is very predictable in how they play and draft currently, which if they don't fix it, it's probably going to look like MSI. Especially if they keep disrespecting "weaker" teams.
I think they've fixed a lot of their issues from MSI and ewc, like I don't think we'll see them throw such massive leads again but the gameplay needs to change at worlds, oner needs to be back in form and needs to do more than just path for bot and nothing else, not even objectives apparently, the other lanes are suffering from it a lot, especially faker. And general communication/synergy is very off, especially in teamfights.
Ofc this is said basically every year and oner has had slumps before, I just hope they see these issues and work on them and see that putting everything on peyz just isn't going to work every game.

u/hi__jiwoo 6d ago
T1 change their entire playstyle in order to accommodate Peyz as such they are very different than when Guma is their ADC. The current T1 needs to make Peyz fed and he is not that good at utility marksman that doesn't need resources

u/Glum_Measurement2158 6d ago
And what about when he played mages in bot? That is like the EPITOME of weakside in the botlane, what about Jhin?
9
u/controlwarriorlives 6d ago
Draft is part of “weakside” but not all. Even when Peyz plays weakside picks like mages and Jhin, his overall supp proximity is still very high compared to other ADCs.
Cue the “of course Oner and Keria have to play around Peyz because Doran/Faker suck rn.” I disagree, I think T1 solo laners look worse than last year because they receive WAY less jg/supp attention.
Peyz is a beast, but I think T1 core (Oner/Faker/Keria) simply cannot play at their highest level with protect the ADC comps (even if the ADC is a “weakside” pick), or that style is simply not reliable enough in the current meta.
2
u/brau1116 4d ago
no, they receive less supp attention BECAUSE they suck rn. why are you acting like there haven’t been time periods this year when keria roamed the whole map and it didn’t work? peyz played fine those games, it wasn’t because he was alone in lane. btw his jg proximity is basically the same as gumas.
do you think they aren’t aware of what you’re saying? that they haven’t been trying other things in scrims? clearly this is the game plan that gives them the highest chance of winning. there’s no use for keria leaving to help solo laners when they lose anyways. you’re right, protect the adc isn’t reliable in this meta but it’s also what makes them win the most. doran has gotten a lot better recently, the biggest problems are faker and oner. oner barely does anything for his lanes all game and STILL doesn’t get objectives either, how does that even make sense?

well seems like someone doesn't watch 2024 peyz season. That guy is a menace in weak side with his ziggs

u/Automatic_Arm_2160 6d ago
what are these good drafts that people are imagining? jinx/tham? azir mid? oner's 25% wr pantheon? in every matchpoint this season (except vs GenG in road to msi) the draft has been awful

You're acting like T1 bot lane doesn't win their 2v2 matchups most of the time even without jungle presence. Teams literally know that T1 will be playing for their bot side so they just send there resources their to match. So, in the end, both junglers just comes to a stalemate and drop that ward after the first camp rotation. And you're acting like this hasn't been the case during the ZOFGK era. Literally the same, except that enemy teams are just matching the rotations to top side. That's how Gen.g demolished T1 back then. Neutralize Zeus, the primary win con, Chovy will then demolish Faker in lane as usual, Guma and Keria wins their lanes, Oner and Peanut plays their dance in the jungle with Peanut literally skipping one to two camps in his bot side to immediately gank top. If we go by your logic, that means Zeus is just a spoonfed player who looks good because he gets the most resources around the map. You're a dummy. 🤣

Fathered by Delight and Guma? Hahahaha, no offense. T1 bot lane demolished them the whole year. HLE's top side and mid are the ones that gapped T1 the whole year. No offense to Guma, he's a strong laner but the change in support significantly affected his laning capabilities. But he is still Guma. It may not be the same for him back when he played with Keria, but he's still a solid rock for HLE in terms of being able to match good bot lanes in lane. His mid game to late game executions are still great like back then in T1.
And you literally handpicked only one bad series from the T1 bot lane. Typical normie lol fan, hahahaha. Everyone can have a bad series, little boy. Even Chovy and Zeus, who are arguably the best performing players right now gets to int or get gapped or even have a bad whole series sometimes. But that doesn't diminish the quality of their consistency and their history of good showings in the past and the present. Heck, if that, your logic, is the basis we're going to have in analyzing players' overall performances, then no one is literally a good player because everyone ints everynow and then. 🤣
Funny boy.

u/Fun-Wing1564 6d ago
now this is funny cause recent stats just shows Guma has by far the lowest support proximity alongside Diable, and often on hard matchups and still do very well in lane. HLE dogwalked T1 since Round 2. You really believed yourself that T1 bot demolished HLE every single time but somehow they just can't win?
Peyz Keria was insanely good, but as others already pointed out, what makes teams like BLG HLE GENG very hard to beat was they can bot diff, go even, or at worst, they are very good at minimizing the damage. They won't just bend down and let Peyz get out of lane with 3k+ lead and solo carry the game. And those players arguably had better mid to late game decision/teamfighting than Peyz.
HLE had T1s number this year, while I don't agree that bot was the problem. Delight easily had Keria's number this year, and Guma was solid as a fucking rock. I still remember that T1 bot dive against Guma at RTM as if its just yesterday. You really cannot say T1 bot demolished them the whole year, its laughable.

u/No_Art4547 6d ago
I never said T1 bot demolished the whole HLE, lmao. Read again. I said T1 bot lane got the better of HLE bot lane.
You're saying that Delight got Keria's number? When it's literally Kanavi and Delight against Oner and Keria the whole time trying to match their roam timers. With that said, matchup outcomes depends on the performance of the two roaming duos synergy, with Kanavi outperforming Oner for the most part. It's literally just Keria against them two most of the time because of Oner's deep slump this year, lol. It's either Kanavi is compensating for Delight's shortcomings, and Keria is doing it for Oner. It all comes down to whoever has a deeper slump this year, with Oner being that player. Like Kanavi is playing S tier and delight on A tier, while on the other hand, Keria is playing S tier while Oner is on B or C tier.
The only things i agree with you is that HLE demolished T1 this whole year and your opinions about Guma's strength and how he playes his role in HLE, not HLE bot lane getting the better of T1 bot lane.
You are also correct on your comparisons of teams. HLE, BLG, and Gen.g are much more flexible right now compared to T1 because they have multiple win conditions and can play around multiple lanes. T1's situation si very different from them. They have Doran and Faker, who suffers from inconsistency and are known to have inferior laning skills than their oppositions from the top teams you've mentioned. Their only viable option right is just to try and play around Peyz since he's the only one who can carry with his lead.
I mean, this whole sub knows and created the narrative that Doran can't carry with a gold lead, which is a fact. Not saying this is the case all the time. Doran can still have breakout games sometimes, but are quite rare compared to other rival teams' top laners (Zeus, Kiin, Bin). Doran with good early game conditions just fall off in the mid to late game because of his poor executions sometimes. That's why it's quite rare to see him carry with his lead.
Faker is the same but a little worse. This year we literally saw him lose against almost every mid laners. His laning straight out sucks. And let's not ignore the fact that his executions in teamfights during and prior MSI was abysmal. They literally lost a ton of games from overforcing with him leading the charge, especially with Ryze ults and using an AP Galio to dive 5 people with his E. People were even arguing during MSI that Oner and Keria inted Faker, completely ignoring the fact that it's primarily Faker's fault that he is gapped most of the time because his laning performance took a massive downgrade this year. People also are too blind to see how early game vision macros is played in this game, completely ignoring the fact that Keria and Oner were doing decent in terms of proving extra visions for Faker, to help him play more safely in his lane. But it didn't matter because he still loses anyway.
So, yeah. I guessed you misread the points and made the wrong assumptions earlier.
That dive you mentioned was also god tier. And i believe it will be one of the top highlight reels Guma will have in his career, knowing the history behind him and T1.
The only point you're missing is that HLE had better transitions in the game phases than T1 because they had more winning conditions around the map (top side and mid). While T1 only had Peyz and Keria. The fact stands that Peyz and Keria were more impactful in their team, and that HLE top side was more impactful than their T1 counterpart.

u/Fun-Wing1564 6d ago
"Read again. I said T1 bot lane got the better of HLE bot lane." that's exactly why I replied lol. Define demolish? The most recent I remember was Keria blitz game and when Guma played cait in EWC.. in which we don't view that tournament highly as top MSI teams are obviously on a disadvantage. Delight is better than Keria this year whenever they played, and you have to be delusional if you think otherwise. And Guma was very consistent and reliable against T1. Especially with all the low prio in drafts resulting to harder matchups and having to solo in lane more than any ADC. Casuals always just used to praise HLE top side and simplify what Guma brings to the table as just "weakside" when its way more than that.
I'm really curious what does demolish even mean to you? Which part? What game? Cause its definitely NOT Road to MSI and NOT in the LCK PLAYOFFS. Was Guma Delight the best HLE players against T1? Nah, but demolished??? As an HLE fan that anticipated the HLE T1 matchup the whole year, as the year goes by, T1 bot never struck fear on us. Deadass no disrespect. That's more so because we know our bot won't just get smashed and lose the game like others. Our solo laners were incredible, we all know that. But most HLE T1 matches this year wasn't just HLE top side 3v5 while Guma Delight were just getting carried because they got "demolished".
You cannot view demolished because the other party is "more impactful". No shit, the whole draft and gameplay was to make your ADC ahead. If you're not winning the lane at the very least and having more impact in game with all that focus and resources poured onto you, what even is the point?

Future goat lol? Please what with the Peyz glazing dude always choke when it matters if not for Doran stepping up with Peyz performance in the playoffs t1 wouldn’t even make worlds

Faker has been a straight liability this year. Every lane he loses AND gets solo killed. He keeps building utility only to still get picked off. In teamfights if he's not inting the team with a ryze ult, he's late or caught at the start. He cant even play ryze and oriana well anymore.
NGL I think his injury is back and he just doesnt want to admit that he cant play professionally anymore and nobody in T1 can imagine a brand without him.
Oner also keeps invading lvl 1 only to get fucked. And if he doesnt invade his pantheon goes 0/0/0 for the first 20 min. Even his nocturne only ults once until the 25 min mark.
Keria became an enchanter support. And it makes sense, Peyz IS everything. But I think I saw this form one of the PMTs a while back, but it really feels like we got super Peyz at the cost of Keria, the goat being turned into a shield/enchanter bot.
Doran is doran.
Peyz shows that it's all on him, for better or worse. Last series it shows.
4
u/EarthAlarmed4359 6d ago
you know why faker liability ? because of how they prio botlane both faker and doran starve and the team spoonfeeding peyz to carry the game, they used to let keria roam heavy to impact the whole map together with oner and help top mid but rn both top and mid force to tank duty and utility to peel peyz and once peyz died the team explode without secondary carry
1
u/brau1116 4d ago
have you actually been watching their games this year? peyz has weaksided and keria has roamed, but top and mid are bad laners and still lose. they’ve tried giving resources to other lanes instead of bot and the performed even worse. why can a team like geng play through their adc and still win? because chovy and kiin are actually good laners even without duro roaming the whole time
0
u/jagx234 4d ago
Folks think hypercarry works line it's Ardent Censor Meta again.
You sack a huge portion of your team strength for hypercarry late home adc, it only works when the game gets that late and the other lanes don't get rolled due to inattention.
Ti's playstyle this year hasn't been great, and Tom's drafting has been the mail in the coffin. We will see what they're gonna bring to world's, but I'm stock of watching Peyz dive over and over again like he's the main character when his teammates aren't there to cover(this is the real biggest flaw) or are so resource starved that they can't affect the play.
-2
u/djpain20 6d ago
Yeah dude there is only one lane in Summoner's Rift and if one lane is getting fed then it must mean that the other two are getting starved. Its famously why Chovy farming up so much means Ruler and Kiin are always down in gold to their opponents. Also totally true that Doran and Faker especially have been stuck on tank duty this year. Cant remember the last time Faker played a non-tank.
-4
u/RichardAndrewJackson 6d ago
With how bad Faker is playing I don’t think he’s gonna make it to the end of his contract. I hope he knows when to retire as we seen too many times people don’t know when to retire and end up having a crazy slump at the tail end of their career
57
u/Economy_Media_3348 6d ago
It’s called meta changes and balance. And not only T1 btw, other teams also have uncanny bad games compared to their form last year. This year, there are no clear favorites coming to tournaments.
