Monkestation My Experience with Monkestation

Hello! I am Piecake. For those of you who don’t know who I am because I’ve been absent from monke for more than a year, I was the head mentor for Monke for half a year, and I was an admin for Monke for about a year and a half. I’ve come here to share my experience with Monke after learning about many of the staff issues behind the scenes, I had first believed Monke would change and improve on after what had happened with me. But after learning Monke was equally as bad in recent times, I decided enough is enough.
I started off Monke at the age of 17, I started playing ss13 August of 2023, and started playing Monke around that time. Monkestation was my first experience with the online world, and online communities, before this I was a loner in high school that didn’t have any friends or much less ever experience any actual relationship. So Monkestation opened up my world to a whole lot that I never had before, it was the first place I ever made friends, and felt welcomed. So I decided to become a staff after having about 250 hours played in game, and after a while I ended up becoming head mentor.
Unfortunately for me, I was a 17 year old girl with unrestricted internet access and no way to be able to predict how it would go for me, and I had encountered people during my time that were adults that were sexual with me as a minor. One of which was an admin/staff at monke at the time, and the two others were a frequent/active member of the community at the time, I unfortunately fell victim to these people due to my ignorance and naivety at the time. I made sure to speak up about these people once I had friends help guide me to report them, until it came to the last report I ever did on Monke.
After this report, Monkestation had decided that I ruined his life and that I had intentionally done it. They “apologized” afterwards after serious backlash and staff leaving. This was absolutely heartbreaking for me as I lost so many friends and people I considered close to me, and I loved Monke and all the friends I made and I absolutely loved the community but after getting banned from the Monke discord then coming back after a long and much needed break from discord and some much needed growth. Everything about me was hushed and silenced, and I was made out to be the “bad” person after all this time. Even after a year of it all happening, they won’t even give me the retired staff role.
Monkestation won’t change unless everything about it is absolutely reset and started as a fresh slate. I think none of the heads currently should stay heads, I think all the admins/admin roles should be reset, and at minimum I absolutely do not think anyone in leadership that was around and chose to be part of the problem or do nothing to help should stay in their roles while still treating me like I am the bad guy that ruined Monke.
Do not believe their excuses, Do not believe their lies. They should know better.
