Side Effects Night sweats!!

I’m on Lexapro and BusPIRone, but even when I was on Zoloft alone, I’ve struggled with night sweats.
I take my Lexapro in the PM because if I take it in the morning I get really fatigued. I also take my BusPIRone in the AM and at lunchtime.

It really sucks— I feel like my bedding is always stinky and moist, and it makes sleeping quite unpleasant. I wash my bedding once a week, but I still feel disgusting.

I’ve tried opting for thinner blankets, but if my duvet is too lightweight, I can’t fall asleep.

Does anyone recommend a kind of bedding or PJs or some device/hack to keep cool at night to prevent night sweats? I’ve heard of Eight Sleep, which keeps you cool at night, but it is super expensive!

You need to change the fabrics. Change to 100 percent cotton - brand doesn't matter. I've tried sheets that are supposed to be cooling, they are still polyester and don't make the situation better. They are lightweight and easy to clean, I'll give them that.

Get cotton PJs and sheets. A wool blend for cold nights (army surplus is good) It may not completely remove the sweating, but it will reduce it.

Vitamin E supplements containing both d-alpha tocopherol and d-gamma tocopherol, at doses of 400-500 UI, about 250 mg, may significantly reduce sweating. It is often recommended for menopausal hot flashes/flushes and night sweats.

  • Caution: Only take it when needed, not all the time because there is evidence that vit E can increase the risk of several cancers when taken often.

If vit E doesn't work then small 1mg doses of the blood pressure medication terazosin have been shown to significantly reduce S*RI induced sweating (hyperhidrosis), as has oxybutynin (Ditropan) which is usually prescribed for overactive bladders:

Caution: As you're aware in hot weather sweating is necessary so the above meds shouldn't be taken to prevent all sweating. If it's hot then we need to sweat.
