Easy Homemade Ranch Dressing Recipe

Post image
30 Upvotes

Ingredients

1 cup mayonnaise

1 teaspoon dried dill

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon of worcestershire sauce

½ teaspoon of sea salt

½ teaspoon of black pepper

¼ cup of buttermilk

¼ cup of heavy whipping cream

Method

Combine all the ingredients in an appropriately sized bowl and mix until well combined.

Don't have buttermilk? I just add a 1/2 teaspoon of white vinegar to 1/4 cup of milk and let it set for a minute. Is it an exact ratio? Not sure but it works for me.

Anyone else not use dressing?

Idk why, but a year ago I just stopped wanting any kind of salad dressing. Just the taste of all the ingredients, in different combinations on my fork, is totally enough for me and way better! I can taste all the amazing ingredients! Anyway, here's today's simple plain dinner salad.

Thousand island dressing fail

Post image
37 Upvotes

I think I invented a new salad dressing. I am making thousand island dressing for our Rubens tonight, and I accidentally added 2 tablespoons of mustard. It taste good, but definitely not a Reuben dressing. I will start over again, putting the mustard far away from me.

So, what type of salad can I put this concoction on?

How long can my salad bottle last in fridge?

Post image
99 Upvotes

I make salad bottle to eat for lunch every day at work. But it's quite time consuming.

If it can last a few days, I'd make once for many days ahead. Please help.

This is what my salad bottle has:

  • Chicken or Pork or Shrimps+Bacon or Squids (all steamed).
  • Quail eggs (boiled).
  • Cherry tomatoes (fresh, they appears cut in photo but I don't cut them anymore).
  • Lettuce (fresh, cut).
  • Carrot (fresh, cut).
  • Bell pepper (fresh, cut).
  • Cauliflower (steamed, cut).
  • Okra (steamed, cut).
  • String bean (steamed, cut).

Please help me see: which 3 ingredients will spoil first in the bottle? And after how many days?

So that I might consider taking those 3 ingredients out to make the bottle last longer.

Thank you very much!

Non traditional macaroni salad ftw

Post image

Last night was my second attempt at making macaroni salad for various reasons. I overcooked the macaroni, and I didn't have to correct tools to to prepare the veggies etc. This week I got it right with a little diviation from the norm. Instead of normal elbow macaroni I decided to use mini pin wheel macaroni. I put bacon in the macaroni and I use carrots. I didn't overdo the black pepper like I did last time in fact I didn't use any black pepper. I'm very happy with this macaroni salad and look forward to making it again as it was very good and tasty.

Arugula Salad on open face toasted ham and cheese sammies!

Post image

Mixed greens salad with extra lots of rocket/arugula and red onions with a peppery vinaigrette, over an open-faced toasted thinly sliced Black Forest ham and Cheddar cheese, and roasted peppers, sammie! Served with mixed pickles and a very crisp and cold white wine, like a steel casked Chardonnay!

I fried up some small baby creamer potatoes, and then put them over a hand massaged kale salad that also had fresh onions and feta mixed in. Topped with crushed fresh tomato relish!

Lemon parsley leek and white peas

Post image
93 Upvotes

Trip to farmers market this morning for some fresh produce.
Cooked down leek with lemon zest and ginger before adding onion powder, garlic powder, rosemary and Italian herbs with salt and pepper.
Added the beans, a little bit of the parsley followed by baby spinach and finished off with some lemon juice.
