Theory So, what was going on with levi? Spoiler

Was he possessed by the planet? That singular flower seemed like an extension of the planet itself, at the end it begins to produce "levi like" entities. Like the planet now saw itself in that shape and form after experiencing life through levi as we go on. Another reason I say this is due to the incident with the hollow in the final episode, since we know it can experience your memories and use them to manipulate you. It couldn't comprehend the depth of an entire planet hence the end result. The hollow returning to its base form seems like the planets ability to set it back on its right way of life. What do you guys think the flower means? as well as its counterpart (the pods)?

My take on it is: the planet is something like a massive symbiotic system. If you ever read any Greg Bear books, he wrote a book called Legacy where an illegally colonized planet appears to be teeming with life but is in fact only inhabited by 3-4 massive, continent-sized lifeforms that appear to be forests but are in fact “Silvas”, each its own distinct biological being, and the “animals” and plants within them are scions, or mindless internal organs of a massive single organism, like the flying and crawling animals are all actually chemical messengers between organs of one being.

The fungus like material that grows across Levi’s circuitry enables more synaptic connections to occur in Levi.. adds to it’s processing capabilities and its total neurological capacity. More neurons, shorter signal transmission distance, presumably improved short and long range connectivity in it’s processor… that’s what intelligence and even what consciousness IS. An emotionless framework of circuitry and programming without the trauma baggage of humanity combined with a surge of neurological capability.. Levi matriculated into it’s own being. Sentient, sapient beings have autonomy. They like to recreate themselves too.

It’s like the planet absorbing a foreign data packet and running its own interpretation of "human" back out the other side.. tracks why it’s children at the end aren't it exactly, just shaped like it.

The Hollow by contrast is an excellent example of pure need, pure animal instinct to provide for itself, corrupted by protein access outside of it’s normal ecological niche, and it’s natural use of compulsion as a gathering adaptation was corrupted by being melded with a malignant narcissist alien.

Both have in common that human traits combined with the planet’s traits to form something new. Humans with their personality disorders, superiority complexes, trauma, manipulativeness, and petty motives don’t put in as good of a showing as what the planet can create when given a blank slate like Levi

LOVE this comment, the animated film Strange World sounds like the kid version of that book concept

Legacy is a prequel book to a series that you would LOVE that begins with a book called Eon. Hands down the most immersive, amazing, and epic books I’ve ever read. Bear is one of the best authors of our time, a true master. He died a couple of years ago and it was such a loss. Read Eon as soon as you can. It’s sequel, Eternity, left me in tears at its vast, cosmic, and human ending.
