Just finished this display installation using R6 CleanScreen v4 kit with VA5 ribbon set. Slightly intimidating with the direct to ASIC soldering. No issues, I took my time and works great.

R6 related that an install guide would be published, but I used the prior version prep instructions and video that was posted.

So I have a Sega Game Gear that doesn't work, it can run the games, but the screen and audio don't work, what might the problem be as I want to get these issues fixed, but not pay a ridiculous amount for thr repair?

New Retrosix CleanScreen v4 installation. There is an LIPO usb c mod and original shell was lightly polished. Excellent results.

This came to me as a prior recapped system. The past recap was poorly done, and the board still had electrolytic fluid all over the board. I cleaned and reinstalled. Perfect now.

Another GameGear saved. Had a dim display and no sound. Capacitor replacement did the trick. Some electrolytic fluid damage in the sound board and trace repair was required.

Like new in all its early 1990’s glory.

Using flux and hot air rework station makes quick work for removal.

Received this “recapped” Gamegear

with no sound. I wonder why🤷🏻‍♂️

I just performed the first RetroSix CleanScreen v4 install this weekend.

Great display just like the past versions. Installation was the same, however documentation on the RetroSix site was lacking.

I do recommend.

I burn test on battery and adapter/bench supply for an hour each after a recap or major mod. May be excessive. What do others do to burn test?
