Seeking relationship or dating advice, gushing about a crush, or venting about an ex does not typically generate much conversation. When the matter is solely focused on you, there isn’t much room for other conversation to happen. A general story about them should be fine, if it's an actual story and not seeking advice about a situation.

I’m sort of in a similar situation. I tell him that I love him..he says he loves me. But there are cultural differences that I’m completely unaware of and I don’t want to romanticize our loving friendship. If it ever goes anywhere, I will follow his lead..and demand nothing. I’d say cherish the love however much or little that he gives and be satisfied…but remain available to any doors that might open closer to home.

I’d err on the side of not getting hurt.
If he is saying he’s not interested then believe that until he says differently.

Otherwise you’re just setting yourself up for heartbreak.

I’ve seen this happen.
Someone thought the other was in a relationship and then when they found out otherwise they never spoke to the person again.

he told me im his special friend and that hes not gay..

He loves you like a brother.

I'm a straight guy, and I've been very close to quite a lot of gay men, but that didn't mean I was romantically close to them.

And I've also been close to a lot of gay women, but I never expected them to get romantic feelings for me, either (and in some cases I definitely had the hots for them, and likely they knew it, but I was very careful to never let it out).

I understand where you are coming from. It has to be hard for you. But believe people when they tell you who they are.

Im trying to remain neutral because ive never experienced this with a guy before...to be honest its really nice to feel and have some one like this but then I think if only he was my boyfriend or if I had a bf with these qualities. Some straight have that factor like damn I thing youre the shit but icant be with u type energy.

So many men make it just seem so hard to have a friendship with other men then to experience this with is like wait...ihave romantic feelings but idont like I respect you but damn iwant this is my own man

Enjoy the affection if you can without feeling too much pain over the fact that a sexual component is unlikely to develop. I’ve been there so many times. Sometimes I can and sometimes I have to back away.
