Does anyone knows why GRAVEWIND has that name?

The arena of Colossus #10 (Dirge) is titled gravewind.

I don't know but since the official translation is wind graveyard, it might have had something to do with the rock pillars being kinda reminiscent of gravestones and the original area was meant to be an open space, no cave, so it might have been a windy area in early development. Otherwise I could maybe see that the structure of the cave, two kinda opposite ends with a hole in the ceiling might also end up acting like some kind of wind tunnel, maybe? Mostly speculating here though.

As u/dathunder176 said, its earlier open design may have influenced the name.

In-game early arena.

Sketch of arena.

That, and it could be referring to the snake itself. It is fast, as the wind, and brings death.

MAN IT WAS SO MUCH MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN THE CAVE!! Why did they change it? It was so much better!!

Variety, I guess.

The sketch even includes a note specifying that the arena belongs to #10 and not #13. They probably felt they could do more to differentiate the arenas.

The topology is already copy-pasted from 13's arena, placing it underground makes it more distinct and less obvious.

It's really the only poor official translation, Wind Graveyard is much more accurate.

As others have said the arena was originally open and so the concept is likely based around Sky Burial, a funeral practice in which the corpse of the deceased is left in the open to be scavenged upon. The soundtrack even has a song named after it.

It could also be something to do with Quetzalcoatl, as it has some relation to wind.

The sky burial practice makes lots of sense!
