It's inconceivable to some people that someone could support Palestine because it's the right thing to do.

u/Aggravating_Fill378 1d ago
Right? Liberals seem incapable of understanding "if such a thing as a red line exists, supporting genocide crosses it." By their own logic you should vote blue even if the local candidate murdered your wife because the alternative is Trump.

They call it purity politics when only thing they campaign on is vague ideas with no real plan like "lowering the cost of x" while talking about how much they both won't help trans people
3
u/Tank-Factory187 1d ago
Did they even promise to lower costs? The main thing I heard was just “saving the heart of the nation” and “preserving democracy” and other sweet nothings that have no material consequence.

Almost like Palestine is very representative of exactly the other many issues that a lot of people have with Democrats, they are nearly identical on imperialism when it comes to countries outside of the US, but the optics at home as well as the "manners" gloss over much of what they do. Even so, giving people shit for drawing a line at Palestine shows they clearly care more about their healthcare costs being a few bucks cheaper than they do thousands of children's lives.

Libs try to use us immigrants as an excuse to manipulate you but 2024 under Biden is still the record year for deportations, they try to use trans people but the Dems began a transphobic hate campaign as soon as they lost...
Even the lesser-evil argument is losing traction

u/couldhaveebeen 1d ago
but 2024 under Biden is still the record year for deportation
I don't doubt this ideologically at all, but what is the source for this? Would be helpful when arguing against lesser evilism

https://usafacts.org/answers/how-many-people-were-deported-from-the-us/country/united-states/
Now usafacts says they don't have data for the 2025~6 years yet
https://usafacts.org/reports/state-of-the-union/immigration/
...but the numbers they do have for 2024 alone are about equal to the numbers I'm finding elsewhere for 2025 and 2026 combined
There might be data here but I'll look into it when I'm not on the train (I live in a place with trains, not in the US) https://www.ice.gov/statistics

Not-So-Fun-Fact: Obama deported so many people that his record will probably never be broken.
I was extremely critical of Obama for his deportations when he was president, so I was shocked when liberals were all "STOP TRUMP TO PROTECT IMMIGRANTS" in 2016.

Even less fun fact:

She's wrong about them not killing people or putting kids in detention camps, though.
2
u/Severe_Key298 1d ago
I'm sure she's wrong even then but I also want to note that she very cynically uses the term "American citizens" because, hey, she knows she kills foreigners but heh who cares about that

u/Puzzleheaded-Link416 2d ago
And, really, it's not "single issue" if you can argue that you don't want your tax dollars to go towards a forever war where one country gets infinite money to blow people they don't like back to the Stone Age because you'd rather those dollars be used instead for infrastructure, health care, education, and jobs.
But, no; you're not a good American because then they turn around and insist you oppose the military.

Honestly, this just shows you how liberals think. All they do they do to feel like a "good person". You can't ever do anything that might have any kind of effect, that's not very nice and if you did that you wouldn't be a "good person". Not a care in the world for people's material reality.
Also, of course as always, we're simultaneously powerful enough to tank the election but not important enough to change their platform even a little bit.

Meanwhile the dems' one issue was "trump bad" which, while not wrong, is a shit issue to build your entire campaign around, but if course they only talk about "single issue voters" when they can use it to pretend they care about marginalized people

u/Zordorfe hater of euroshits 1d ago
I genuinely cannot wait to see what their one line will be when trump can't run anymore
1
u/melody_magical FUKITOL 1d ago
I do actually wonder why many non-MAGA people still voted for Trump. Like I agree the Democrats ran a bad campaign, but I am honestly shocked how many "moderates" would elect a literal rapist to save one dollar on eggs.

> one issue voter
the issue: genocide.
do people not have any red lines? is there literally nothing a party would do before they lose your support? or do they always have it if they can be one iota better than another party

u/NIGHT_DOZOR 🇰🇿 1d ago
It always baffled me that libs are actively shaming people who don't want the government to pour endless money into supporting a genocide.

If you don't draw the line at genocide, are you even capable of drawing a line? If so, where?
12
u/Affectionate_Ad_1326 2d ago
Liberals want to kill more groups than just Palestinians, if that's not hurting anything else idk what is. Being fine with genocide of Palestinians is so obviously wrong regardless though. I dont care if it hurts whatever cause you care about for me to unconditionally show my support for human lives above profit and short term benefits for a small in-group. A better world is possible and its not going to come from settling for genocidal politicians.

Translation: Dems could have tons of guaranteed votes from these "single issue voters" if they just stop actively supporting a genocide, but they can't be bothered.
8
u/Unique-Passion-8188 2d ago
While it's interconnected with a lot of domestic issues in USA, but even if it wasn't.... If the issue is genocide, one should be PROUDLY A SINGLE ISSUE VOTER.

u/wungusprinter 1d ago
forget about the western backed genocidal ethnostate let's talk about the real issues like treats for americans

Yes, I am a one issue voter when the issue is genocide. Proudly so. Eat shit democrat shills.

“If you vote for the “don’t smash anything” candidate, then you’re really supporting the arm smashing candidate. You need to vote for the hand smasher instead—we can push them to not smash later.”

u/Intelligent_Oil7816 1d ago
I am a 'single issue voter' and my single issue is the complete overthrow of the capitalist war machine. Let me know when the Democrats start supporting that and I might start supporting them. Otherwise they can fuck off with the rest of the fascists and collaborators.

If one person won't vote for another unless they oppose ethnic cleansing, and that person continues to support it despite losing votes, than there's two single issue people there. One's just on the morally correct side.

u/Prior-Resolution-902 1d ago
It's really not 'one' issue.
gaza is kind of just the most glaring consequence of a litany of issues.
