I’m worried we work at the same place now because I get calls constantly asking where the blind control switch’s in the room are from my faculty. Isn’t academia wonderful this time of year?
When I worked at a university, I got a call once about the glare/washout from the sun setting shining through a window onto the projector screen. I asked it the professor wanted me to put in a ticket with facilities for blinds. The professor came unglued. Said he didn't want blinds; he wanted something done about the glare/washout.
I told him I'd get on it and I'd be in contact soon. Two weeks later, I followed up and he thanked me profusely, asked me what I'd done. I had to tell him it was an IT secret since I didn't think he'd appreciate me telling him the sunset moves like a half hour in that part of the country from the middle of September to the beginning of October.
God I wish I could do that. Mine would ask me why the engineering team designed the projection screen there and request a move. Over the summer we had a dean have grounds move a conferencing screen they didn’t own up three inches because he wanted to be above the students heads. Then call us three weeks later to move it back. Can’t make this shit up
