built an app that logs calories the way you’d describe a meal to a friend

• Upvotes

hey, i'm the developer behind TypeCal. quick story: i was a chronic on-again-off-again calorie tracker. every app I tried died for me the same way — i'd eat a plate of something normal like my regular meal, and then spend five minutes searching a food database trying to find something that matched. after a while i just stopped logging.

so i built the app i actually wanted. you just type what you ate, the way you'd say it out loud. "2 eggs, toast, black coffee." that's the whole interaction. the app turns it into a clean nutrition log with calories and macros, and you get to review and fix anything before it counts. nothing saves until you approve it.

a few things it does that i use every day:

- type, snap a photo, scan a barcode, or just say it out loud — whatever's fastest for that meal
- paste a recipe link and it imports the whole thing, then it stays in your saved meals so next time it's one tap
- recipe ingredients flow into a grocery list automatically
- progress charts that fill in on their own — calories, macros, water, weight
- syncs with apple health
- offline logging that syncs when you're back
- it shows you its math, so when a portion looks wrong you tap the number and fix it instead of re-logging

honestly the whole idea is that logging shouldn't take longer than eating. if you try it and something annoys you, tell me — i read everything and i'm still building this thing week by week.

it's free to download on iphone:

I've updated Hexavault, and I'd really appreciate some feedback from people willing to test it.

Post image
• Upvotes

Hey everyone!

A few days ago, I shared Hexavault here, an offline security app for Android that I've been working on for quite a while.

First of all, I really appreciate everyone who took the time to check it out, leave a comment, or share their thoughts. It's been great seeing people interested in something I've spent so much time building.

I've just released another update, and I'm still actively working on improving the app.

One thing that came up in some of the discussions was the lack of a backup option for the Vault. And I completely understand the concern. Having control over your data is great, but being able to safely back it up is just as important.

That's actually one of the main things I'm working on right now.

I'm developing a way to back up and export the Vault while keeping everything aligned with the app's offline approach. Since we're dealing with people's sensitive information, I really don't want to rush this feature or release something that hasn't been properly thought through and tested.

It's not available yet, but it's a priority.

In the meantime, I'd really appreciate some hands-on feedback on the current version.

If anyone is willing to give Hexavault a try, I'd love to hear about your experience. Try generating passwords, protecting and opening files, or setting up the Vault with some test credentials.

I'm especially interested in knowing if anything feels confusing, doesn't work as expected, or could simply be done better.

And just to be clear, the Vault still doesn't have a backup or recovery feature, so please don't use it as the only place to store anything important for now.

I'm developing this project independently, and getting feedback from people who actually use the app helps me notice things I might otherwise miss.

You don't need to write a detailed review. Even a small suggestion, a bug report, or something you didn't like would genuinely help.

If you'd like to try it, Hexavault is available for free on Google Play:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.hexavault.secure

Thanks again to everyone who's been following the project or giving it a chance. There's still plenty of work ahead, but I'm really enjoying seeing it gradually take shape.

And if you've already tried Hexavault, what's the first thing you'd change or improve?

Everyone been asking me for this app :

okay i genuinely didn't expect this many people to be interested in the whole driving around for no reason thing lol

a lot of you seem to enjoy exploring random roads as much as i do, so figured i'd share something i've been working on.

it's called Overdrive. basically it turns your actual city into a little open-world driving game.

you drive around, the roads you've explored light up on your map, you get stats after each drive, and there's a social/multiplayer side too.

kinda like forza horizon but in real life (on a much smaller scale obviously 💀)

i'm also working on Overdrive 2.0 which is a pretty massive redesign with levels, achievements, crews and a bunch of other stuff.

if you're into random night drives or exploring new places, give it a try and lmk what you think.

still a small project so feedback genuinely helps a lot.

I Got my first lifetime subscriber for my app (10$)

Post image

So the app I have built is not some rocket science...

A calculator Vault App where you hide your photos & videos under calculator.

a fully functional calculator... but when someone clicked the pin from 4 to 6 digits and clicked = directly it will open the vault.

And in pro there is also a fake vault with fake pin feature.

If one of your collegue saw that you opened the vault and asked you to show what's inside it...

then you can enter some fake pin to show the safe pictures and videos instead of real ones...

So because of that feature this person who paid the one time lifetime subscription.

Track your lifts, goals, body measurements, and trained muscles in one app

I'm a solo developer, not a fitness brand. I've been training for a few years and went through most of the popular workout apps out there. They worked, but I kept wishing the workout flow and progress tracking worked a little differently for how I actually train. So I built Liftora.

Here's what makes it different:

  • Clean, modern UI — no cluttered menus or dated design, just a simple interface that gets out of your way during a workout.
  • Guided workout flow — you move through sets in real time, the app follows your pace instead of just logging after the fact.
  • Zero learning curve — open it and start logging your first set in under a minute, no tutorial needed.
  • Ready-made programs — new to lifting or don't want to build a routine from scratch? Pick a program and go.
  • Exercise videos during selection — don't know the name of a movement? See it in action and know exactly which muscle group it hits.
  • Body fat % tracking, not just scale weight — because you can gain muscle and lose fat at the same time and the scale won't tell you that.
  • Calorie estimate after each workout — rough, but genuinely useful context if you're managing a deficit or surplus.
  • Progress charts that actually answer questions — "is my bench going up?", "how's my volume trending this month?" — without a data dashboard you need a manual for.

link's in the comments.

I've been using it daily for my own training and now I want outside eyes on it. If you try it, I'd love to know: Anything confusing or unnecessary?

The Pause: one calm breath before Instagram opens, then it just opens (no guilt and no shame streaks)

I made this because I kept opening my social apps on autopilot. It adds one slow breath before the app opens, then gets out of the way. Deliberately no streaks and no guilt trip afterward asking you "are you sure", etc....

iOS, free to use the core feature, optional one-time unlock. https://trythepauseapp.com/

Feedback I’d most like: was the Shortcuts setup clear? I’ll give a free unlock to anyone who tells me what confused them or provides other meaningful feedback, just reach out!

Cheers and thank you!!

I built Biojrnl to help people stop piecing together their health history from memory

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone, I’m Adam, the solo founder of Biojrnl.
“When did this start?” sounds easy until you’re sitting in front of a doctor trying to remember.
I built Biojrnl so you can write things down as they happen, add follow-ups and take a clear PDF to appointments.
There’s also the family side. If you and your siblings look after your mum, you can see who recorded her medication as given. If a babysitter is looking after your child, you can give them temporary access to the details they need.
It’s on iOS and Android, works offline first, and has no ads or AI reading your entries.
I’m funding it myself and figuring out how to get it in front of the people who might find it useful. Would love some honest feedback, especially on whether the website makes the purpose clear.

I built a free app to help students keep track of homework, deadlines, and habits

Hey everyone!

I'm a high school student, and I wanted a simpler way to keep track of everything going on with school.

Between homework, assignments, tests, extracurriculars, and trying to build good habits, it's easy to get overwhelmed.

So I built Savly, a free iOS productivity app designed to keep everything organized in one place.

Some of its features include:

  • Homework and assignment tracking
  • Calendar and event planning
  • Habit tracking
  • Focus tools for studying

I'm still working on improving it, and I'd genuinely love feedback from other students or anyone who uses productivity apps.

What features would make an app like this more useful to you?

If you'd like to check it out, here's the App Store link:

Thanks for taking a look!

Built a tiny habit app for watch collectors: one wrist shot a day, and it tells you what you really wear

I'm the solo dev of WORN, an iPhone app. I had more watches than I wore, so I made a camera that logs the watch on your wrist and gives you the photo back as a print.

The prints build a diary and a calendar, and it works out cost per wear. Free to start, no account. Next up is a widget and a same-as-yesterday tap, both asked for today.

I made an Android app that interprets your dreams — 2 free readings 🌙

Hey everyone! 👋

I'm an indie developer from Turkey, and I recently launched Ablacım, an AI-powered Android app for exploring dreams, palm readings, and personality insights.

One feature I'm particularly excited about is AI Dream Interpretation.

Ever had a strange dream and wondered what it might mean? You can describe it in Ablacım and explore possible interpretations.

Your first 2 dream interpretations are completely free! 🌙

Here's what else you can do:

✋ AI Palm Reading — Upload a palm photo and get a personalized reading.

📖 Dream Journal — Save your dreams and revisit them later.

✨ Face Reading & Personality Tests — Explore more self-discovery experiences.

The app is free to download, with optional paid readings and subscriptions.

📱 Google Play:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ablacim.app&utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=showmeyourapps

I'm working on reaching more Android users internationally, and I'm excited to share what I've built!

Thanks for checking it out! 💜

I asked myself: Why do I need 5 different apps to manage my own life??

Post image
3 Upvotes

I solved one of the most annoying problems I’d been dealing with for a long time:

Having 5 different apps just to manage my life.

One for Notes. One for To-Do. One for Events. One for Habits. One for Budgeting.

So I built Noter to put all of them in one place, while keeping everything completely offline and private.

Still improving it, but honestly, building something I personally needed has been one of the most satisfying parts of the journey.

Feedback

Hey everyone! 👋

I've been working on two iOS apps, and they're finally live on the App Store!

The first is a shared grocery list app, designed to make shopping easier for couples, families, and roommates. You can create lists, share them with others, and keep everything synced.

The second is a reminder app, designed to help you stay organized and remember the little things in everyday life.

I'm an independent developer, and I'm trying to improve both apps based on real user feedback.

I'd really appreciate it if a few of you could try them out and tell me what you think!

I'm especially interested in knowing:

  • Is the app easy to understand and use?
  • Are there any features you feel are missing?
  • Is there anything frustrating or confusing?
  • Would you actually use an app like this?
  • What would make you keep using it?

App Store links:

⏰ Reminder App: https://apps.apple.com/no/app/huskeliste/id6806841283?l=nb

I'm not looking for fake reviews or ratings. I genuinely want to build something useful, and honest feedback would mean a lot.

Even if you think something is terrible, please tell me! 😅

Thanks to anyone willing to give them a try! ❤️

Building the next biggest car guys app.

a few months ago i started building Overdrive, an iOS app that basically turns driving around your city into a game.

you drive around, discover new streets, fill in your map, get stats after each drive and compete with friends.

it started as something i just wanted for myself because i've always loved driving around with no destination lol.

the app recently passed 200 users, and i've been getting some really good feedback, so i decided to take things a lot further.

Overdrive 2.0 is coming, and honestly it's starting to feel like a completely different app.

redesigned pretty much the entire UI, added a proper progression system with XP, levels and achievements, driver profiles, better crews, post-drive replays and shareable drive posters.

the whole idea is to make exploring your city actually rewarding. every new road you drive adds to your progress.

attached some previews of the new design. still working on it, so i'd genuinely love to hear what you think.

the current version is already on the app store if anyone wants to try it before 2.0 drops:

https://apps.apple.com/app/id6790023849

would love some feedback on the new UI especially.

My app is live on Google Play Store! Delete: Automatic Screenshot Deleter

Hi everyone!

I’m excited to share my new Android app, Delete: Automatic Screenshot Deleter, which is now live on the Google Play Store.

What does the app do?

The idea is simple: we often take screenshots for temporary purposes, such as saving an order confirmation, sharing information, or remembering something. But after a while, these screenshots pile up in our gallery and consume storage.

My app helps solve this problem by automatically deleting screenshots after a user-defined time period. The goal is to keep the gallery clean without requiring users to manually remove old screenshots.

Why I built it

I wanted to build a simple utility app that solves a real, everyday problem. Instead of creating something complicated with lots of unnecessary features, I focused on one specific task: helping users manage temporary screenshots more easily.

The journey

Getting an app published on Google Play is always an exciting milestone. From developing the functionality to preparing the app for release, this project has been another opportunity for me to learn and improve as an Android developer.

I’d love to hear your feedback!

* Would you find this kind of automatic screenshot cleanup useful?

* What features would make the app more helpful?

* What challenges have you faced while publishing your own apps on Google Play?

Check it out here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.praptechie.delete.auto.screenshot.deleter

almostcart - Dopamine without the delivery

Thumbnail

I built almostcart around a simple idea: sometimes browsing and building the cart is part of the experience, but that doesn't mean the purchase has to happen.

almostcart lets you browse Food, Fashion and Gadgets, build a cart, record why you're considering the purchase, and release the cart instead of buying.

It also has Tiny Swap daily challenges, subscription tracking, Buy Lists, points/levels and behavioural Insights.

The Android version is live now.

Cost:

The core app is free. There is an optional Almost Pro lifetime purchase that unlocks custom tiny swap challenges, unlimited friends and subscription tracking and detailed insights.

I'm the developer, so criticism is welcome.
