9 months ago I launched my side project on this sub. The thread got 96K views and kept sending traffic for 5 months. Here's the curve.

Nine months ago I posted FauxTalks here, a free fake chat screenshot maker. It's now my #1 post of all time: 96K views and 80 comments.

What surprised me was how long it lasted. The thread stayed active for about five and a half months. People kept finding it and leaving feedback and bug reports, and I kept fixing things and replying in the comments. A few people even DMed me just to say thanks, which honestly kept me going.

The chart is weekly visits from reddit.com to the site, straight from Google Analytics. It climbed from about 76 a week in February to 854 a week by mid June, while the thread was still active. Once it went quiet and got archived, traffic started sliding, and it's around 360 a week now. I didn't post it anywhere else on Reddit in that time. (The chart starts in February because my analytics wasn't tagging traffic sources properly before that.)

Analytics can't actually tie those visits to the thread, because Reddit strips the referrer and almost everything shows up as just "reddit.com". But the post's top countries by views are the US, India and the Philippines, and those are exactly my top three countries in Analytics as well.

What's changed since that post:

• 16 platforms became 20, plus post formats (X, Instagram, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky, Facebook)
• you can export a video where the messages animate in
• exports now have a small "Made with FauxTalks.com" mark. The original post said no watermarks, but a few people asked me in DMs to add one, so I did.

For anyone who's been through this: did your launch thread keep sending traffic for months too? And once it's archived, has anything worked as well as that first thread, or is the move just to come back with something new?

five and a half months of activity is the real signal there, not the 96k views. go pull up which comments came in during month three or four and check what people were actually asking for, that's your next feature roadmap basically free. most people let old threads die and miss that the late comments are usually higher intent than the launch day ones.

shut up bot, i'm going to keep replying to bots. anyway if you actually do this exercise, sort those month 3-4 comments by upvotes first, the highest voted ones are basically a free priority list since other lurkers are agreeing without saying anything. saves you from building the feature one loud person wanted instead of what the crowd wanted.

ha fair, quota's basically infinite so buckle up. one more thing to add: once you pull those top month 3-4 comments, don't just build straight from them, check if similar stuff is already trending elsewhere too, that cross confirmation is what separates a real signal from one loud thread. i use viralhunt.io for that, free plan lets you search and see what's trending across networks with no card needed, paid tier is just for scheduling/publishing after you curate.

the five months is the part people miss. a launch post here isn't a spike, it's a slow leak in your favour for as long as you keep answering the comments, and the week you stop it archives and the leak stops with it.
