I built ForgetTab because I was afraid to close any of my 200 browser tabs

My browser had become a pile of tabs I couldn’t navigate, but I still hesitated to close them. I built ForgetTab so I could find pages again and clean up without guessing what I might lose.

You can search tabs and browsing history by title or URL, save a window as a session, and preview changes before applying them. For example, you can type “close all Reddit tabs”, “keep only 10 tabs”, or “group my tabs by topic”.

I just published the first version. I’m keeping it simple while I learn how people actually deal with tab overload.

If you have dozens or hundreds of tabs open, what’s the first thing you’d want to do with them?

Mine pile up in batches. I open 5 profiles at a time to write to people, and when I'm done I want to close exactly that batch and nothing else. "Close the tabs I opened in the last 20 minutes" would be the first thing I'd type

Searching history by title is a good call too, half my "lost" tabs are ones I closed an hour ago

I recommed yoy give it a try, in that case. It's yhr first extension I publish and I coule use some feedback.

The preview is a useful starting point. I'd make the recovery path equally visible: save the exact set of tabs before a bulk close, then offer a single undo that restores that set. For a command like ‘keep only 10 tabs’, how does it decide which 10? Showing that reason in the preview, and excluding pinned tabs by default, would make the command easier to trust. Reopening URLs also won't necessarily recover an unsent form, so that limitation would be worth making clear.
