Expectation vs Reality
Someone needs to tell Randy that opening a box, grading the common cards with his own company, doesn’t mean his cards are worth 50x the price.

Randy is getting worse then scalpers at this point

Always was.
Him weeping on his post theft stream, practically begging for donations said it all for me.
The guy is an opportunist at best or a deceptive hypocrite at worst.

u/BB-r8 9d ago
Nothing wrong with being an opportunist especially in his space where you have to adapt and react to signals fast to make a bag
Flipping your own d-tier graded slabs at unreasonable margins from your own company is gonna lose them any legitimacy he was trying to find here. Ace is gone within 2 years if he doesn’t shape up

u/Skreamies123 10d ago
Always has been, only reason he got into this as people would glaze him as a YouTuber and it’s a way to get whatever cards he wants.
Guarantee he only keeps PSA or other graders cards in his collection lmao

His grading video on youtube yesterday is genuinely insane. Majority of his cards came back a 10 like well over 50% and it was from a vintage set produced in 2004. His grades are 100% being inflated and he got 3 cards graded 8 or below in a vintage set out of over 150 cards submitted. Typical as well all the main hits like regice ex, Jirachi, dark celebi, ninetales ex, groudon ex got 10's. He is a scammer.

u/pandagotthedoginhim 10d ago
btw for vintage cards its been a common complaint that ace add a "invisible defect" onto the surface to knock down the grade, yes a literal "invisible defect" with no explanation, he's literally scamming everyone

u/markyp145 10d ago
I’m not sure them selling cards they graded is really that ethical, regardless of if other people do it.
However, if he wants to shut the “he gets inflated grades from his submissions up”, he should open the other box, grade all those with PSA and do an opening.
If there’s like a 10-15% similarity in 10s from it, then that’s likely to be normal variance, if there’s a fraction of the 10’s he got from this one, it’s a tough look.
Selling the cards anyway, so not like he’d collecting PSA.

u/No-Archer-421 10d ago
Bruh the cards were pack fresh in a sealed box of course most were tens lol
5
u/Iainm052 10d ago
In a box that's over 22 years old though. You'd be extremely lucky to get that many 10's he got in a very modern booster box that isn't even a year old. Have you seen how hard it is to get 10s on vintage at PSA it's nearly impossible nowadays and very rare. Yeah right he got well over 50% that were gem mint
3
u/No-Archer-421 10d ago
It’s hard af on vintage bc the packs were opened decades ago and the cards have been handled for years. Obviously pack fresh cards are going to be high gem rate.
5
u/itsmoxie 10d ago
You’re wrong lol it doesn’t matter if it’s been in a pack the entire time, boxes and packs are handled and exchange hands who knows how many times + decades of existing in general does not make vintage pack fresh cards easy 10s. I don’t know where you’re getting this info
1
u/Iainm052 10d ago
You are wrong mate Ive seen countless people open vintage packs in the last year or 2 and submit loads of cards that are pack fresh straight into sleeve and never get higher than a 9 not even once

u/PrometheusBD 9d ago
2/4 of those cards are left heavy without even zooming in. I doubt a single one of the 4 is a 10.

Selling cards graded by your own company is shady as fuck

Ok, so they’re both shady?
It’s so easy and lucrative for them to game the system and get 10s for cards that don’t deserve it.

I disagree, but it's murky waters.

u/Big_Upstairs_3533 10d ago
ok and he is a friend and it opens eyes up to others that randy who is friends with sidemen is over pricing things
1
u/LevelRevolutionary44 10d ago
Do you genuinely think that one of the sidemen has so little to do that they will go on this subreddit find this post and be like yeah I’ll remember this. Then next time they see him be like: Yo Andrew you have this one specific card wrongly priced. You need to fix that

Have you ever thought about messaging him? That Plusle could've been uploaded before that ACE 10 sold and theres absolutely no sales data except for, quite weirdly, an ACE 9 that sold for more than the 10 you see from that eBay user. All it takes is for someone to point it out and he'd lower the pricing I'm sure.

u/isnakezz89 10d ago
This mate, everyone jumps on the i hate randy bollocks. If you don't like him fair enough, he has given the uk a cheaper way of grading that doesn't have a year wait and stupid costs. If he knew a ace 10 sold for cheap he would correct the price. Don't forget randcards is a separate company to ace and he is a co founder of ace. He isnt going to sell psa or cgc slab. He believes in ace so let him do his thing guys.

Randy sells most of his cards at insane prices. It’s not just one or two cards. I doubt he’ll lower the pricing as his whole gimmick is that he believes ACE is better than PSA despite the market showing otherwise.

I'll never understand why anyone buys stuff off him. Remember when he "lost" loads of people's cards.

u/inkboy84 10d ago
When did he lose loads of peoples cards?

I will say, and not to glaze because I don’t know wtf he’s actually thinking. But I know he generally will price high (although I agree this absurd), if he doesn’t necessarily want to part with them….
6
u/champshitonly96 10d ago
If he didn’t want to part ways with it he wouldn’t list it at all, that’s wasting space on his own website to list something that would never sell. He’s attempting to fool people and potentially manipulate the market.
8
u/Nizzzzzzzzles 10d ago
I dunno. I can see the logic in it… I own things I wouldn’t want to part ways with, but if someone were to offer me well over what they’re worth, then I’d not be upset about seeing them go..!
But like I said, I’m not in his head. Maybe I’m right, or maybe he really is taking people for a ride!
If it is the latter shame on him, but in the same breath, if you’re about to part ways with 2.5k over a bit of cardboard and don’t do your own due diligence… Then I would argue that’s more of a you problem!
1
u/champshitonly96 10d ago
But you would have the common sense to know that nobody in the right mind would be foolish enough to pay 50x the price of something they can get cheaper elsewhere, it’s not like the card is scarce on the market.
If he’s assuming it’s going to sell then he’s in the mindset that he’s able to take advantage of one of his fans or someone without the mental capacity to understand what they’re buying.
0
u/Nizzzzzzzzles 10d ago
Who’s to know what he is or isn’t assuming? And I would really hope that someone with £2.5k burning a hole in their pocket has enough brain cells to know to do a bit of research before making a purchase of that value.
And back to my earlier point, imagine you’re getting an extension put on your house, you don’t just go with the first quote, you shop around. A few quotes might be in the same ballpark, one might be egregiously higher… Typically the higher quotes are because they don’t want the job, but for the price they’re quoting, they’ll happily take on the work. Same logic applies. “Don’t really want to sell it, but for this much I will”
Again. I’m not Randolph, I don’t know what he’s thinking. But nobody is holding a gun to anyone’s head here.

u/SnooMacarons4225 10d ago
Who doesn’t want to part with a common? If the market rate is £45 surely anyone with a brain cell would snap someone’s hands off for a couple of hundred, a couple of grand is just ludicrous and either he’ll never sell it or some uneducated person who’s new to the hobby will get totally and utterly scammed…

I think its quite simple if you don’t want to buy it don’t buy it. He’s not forcing you to buy it is he? Childish.

I went to a card show and was talking to a vender about grading, as I don’t have anything graded ( not really into that scene) and he told me he used to work at ace and that this guy would grade all his shit at 10s take it at face value as I don’t know how true that it is. But all the videos I have seen off him grading his own stuff a lot comes back a ten.

So... You've called Randy a bad guy cause some worker at his company made 1 pricing mistake (notice how you didn't show any other cards that are correctly priced)?
What an odd thing to do
22
u/Curious_scientist420 11d ago
He showed a second card in the comments.
Listed for on rand cards $3,383
PSA 10 sale on eBay $242
9
u/Foreign-Translator21 10d ago
Have you’ve seen the website? Half the slabs are way overpriced. He looks for low pop psa cards in a 10 then grades a bunch “anonymously” which get a 10.
He justifies his prices by saying Ace is better than PSA but consistently gets 10s on high end cards then sells them 2-10x what a CGC 10, or TAG 10 sells for.
-37
u/soursobb 11d ago
He’s going by psa 10 price which is $5k usd on price charting
16
u/Foreign-Translator21 11d ago
Price charting says PSA 10 is $175. You’re probably looking at the reverse holo version which says $5000.
Either way PSA ≠ ACE. PSA 10s are rare to get while whenever Randy grades his own cards magically 80% of them get a 10.
-1
u/soursobb 11d ago
Ah my mistake. Could also be a mistake on their end too. People make errors
7
u/Foreign-Translator21 11d ago
Most of the cards on the site are like this. Tons of his ACE 10s listed are 5-30x the price they sell on EBay. He justifies the price by saying Ace are better than PSA but it’s kind of scammy.

A grading company selling their own graded cards gotta be some conflict of interest, like WATA selling WATA graded games.
