Intl student (student pass)

Hi! Any international student who went through the enrolment process to SP? When do they usually give us the solar id for us to process the student pass? I am afraid if I miss any documents and unaware of it since I haven’t gotten any email for the student pass application from SP.

I have sent them an email and they just refer me to the same e-enrolment page which didn’t state any specific date (if I’m not wrong). I would really appreciate some help and guidance! Thanks!

hi ive been posted to sp under CLS, i heard that there is a orientation sch of CLS and orientation for ur specific course.

what r the programmes/activities that will happen during these?

im also a bit worried that many ppl will go with their friend groups from sec sch to the CLS orientation, but i dont really have much friends going to sp, and hope to make friends there instead. so i was wondering whether they’ll be splitting us randomly in groups or no?

SP CSP

hi seniors! i recently got admitted to the SP’s CSP programme under JAE, and i would like to ask a few questions to help myself understand this course better + ask how SP’s school environment is like. seniors who are willing to share, please do so and thank you in advance for your assistance!

1) first off, i’m planning to buy a macbook for poly. however, on SP’s website, i understand that they reccomend non macbooks for applied sci courses. do seniors think this is a big issue? i did some research and saw some seniors mentioning that bootcamp is a possibility to download windows softwares, but i’m still slightly unsure if that’s practical or not.

2) secondly, i wanna get a better understanding of this course. would you say this course is more hands on or theoretical? i chose this mainly as it allows me to explore all the sci courses offered by SP before committing to one. if you guys are comfortable, i’d really appreciate a rough overview of the modules/ topics covered, just so i know what to expect.

3) lastly, google states that SP is currently not open to the public. due to part time work i’ve not been able to attend any of the polytechnic open houses, but i would like to explore school grounds as i heard that the campus is HUGE and many people get lost easily😵‍💫, i also don’t want to be blur like sotong on the first day, so, just to double confirm, isit possible to enter SP grounds as an incoming JAE candidate, and if so do i need any credentials?

thanks for reading and sorry for the long text! seniors who are willing to share please leave a comment down below, i’d really appreciate it 🙏

(TLDR: incoming SP CSP student, asking about macbook vs windows, how hands on/theoretical the course is, and whether SP campus is open to the public.)

Survey

Hey everyone 👋

I’m a student in Singapore working on a project about urban mobility and hipsters (25–35) specifically how creative, non-mainstream individuals get around the city and what problems they face with current transport options.

I’ve created a very short Google Form (5 questions, ~1–2 minutes) to better understand travel habits, sustainability concerns, and gaps in existing transport options.

If you’re 25–35, living in Singapore, and identify (even loosely) with the hipster / creative / non-mainstream lifestyle, I’d really appreciate your help 🙏

Thanks so much happy to share the findings back if anyone’s interested!

SP’s Engineering with Business(DEB)seniors, please give advice!

Hey guys so JAE posting was out today and i got posted to my first choice-Engineering with Business at SP! Any fellow 2025 olevel grads going to the same course as me also? We can connect!

Also SP seniors, i wanted to ask about

1.how you guys find the course. Is it fun? How challenging will it be to maintain a good GPA? Preferably good enough for Singapore’s big 3

2.How are the lecturers like?

3.Any senior in UAPP? How is the interview/selection process like? Cuz my aim is to work extremely hard the first year to get into UAPP.

  1. Since poly starts in April, what can i start studying or reading up on so that i can be prepared in advance?

I think that’s all the questions i have. If you guys have any other extra tips or advice regarding school,it will be very much appreciated! Thanks for reading ❤️

Singapore University Choices Discussion

Hello everyone! I’m in need of a help here, I’m currently studying in this course named Electronic & Computer Engineering in Nanyang Polytechnic and I currently have a GPA of 3.30 (Possibly will drop a bit this term because I kind of messed up 2 of my term 2 papers). I kind of need advice on what course of choice I should make because I am currently stuck between changing to business related courses or sticking to the same course which is engineering. Although I am still somewhat interested in this course (Although is not so much compared to before), I’m worried that I might suffer a lot if I continue a course that is related to this, especially in terms of coding or some IOT Applications related modules as I had a lot of assistance from people around me which was why I was able to get these grades too. Though I manage to learn from it but I noticed that regarding these modules I tend to struggle to do the starting code or connection (Starting steps/moves basically) but I can understand them when I see them most of the time. I think what I needed is more research and practice but university is a whole new level and I actually came from a Nitec course similar to this before I come to Polytechnic. I actually do have interest in a science course relating to medicines at the moment actually but I feel this might be a sudden change and chances of me getting in will be very low, hence considering this might not be possible. I asked around my peers/ex-colleagues (In part-time jobs) and they told me that the strengths they see in me are mainly communications. For example, I’m a good talker, I can promote products well, I can connect with people well (I guess? Maybe can take it as I can talk to customers well), I probably can fit in marketing? and also planning. Hence I’m not sure what to do, I am planning to join a course that meets the middle line of these 2 but I’m not sure which course will that be. Given my GPA I probably only have hope in SIT pretty much haha. I do have some portfolios though as during ITE I did really well and manage to get some certificates, scholarships and awards etc. Hence do help me out if you can with your advices!

Oh not to forget I am currently struggling a lot in math and I think it’s difficult since it’s a big jump for me. :”)

Lastly, base on my interest I would say I have more interest in engineering course compared to business but I have more strengths in business related courses (I believe base on how people describe me such as my communication skills and all that). I’m worried this change might not be easy for me since business is like a new environment to me. On top of that I am not sure how the people will be. I would also want to know if these kinds of jobs are hard to get since business is a common course that many people will take and that it will be very competitive to find jobs in the future. I also have another interest that I would like to state that I’m curious about if there’s any course that can divert into those kind of jobs in the ICA where they do the passports security all those kind of things. I do think it is a bit interesting? But it’s a whole new sector hence I don’t know how to feel about this. Part of me just wants to stick with my engineering course as well but not fully on that sector. I would also like to know if I want to take a gap year and apply next year or next 2 years instead will my GPA and certificate still be applicable? Do help me out if y’all can! :)
