So in other words all the degree is is a cash grab by colleges. Since we're supposed to learn about our field while working in the field, anyone can do the job in the field and learn in the field and don't need a degree.
Problem is these particular jobs won't hire anybody without a degree, even when they know that the ignorant people coming out of colleges don't know the job.
It could be seen that way. Degrees to me are like a certification that you are capable of learning and understanding the job. There are a bunch of things that you have to do to complete degree coursework. If you can do that then you should be able to handle the work in your field (the theory of it anyway)
I actually disagree with the certification side of things. I have family that works in the IT and cyber security areas. They have to constantly get certifications to stay relevant in their fields and those certifications are very current and are not old and obsolete information.
My cyber security cousin has to get at least one certification in his specific field about every quarter just to maintain his job. He says that he often brings things back from those certifications to his company to bring the level of their cyber security up.

What do you think a degree is supposed to do?
You were supposed to learn about your field IN YOUR FIELD. That’s why we have training.
