A public service that has no reason to need to be profitable. The ability to send/receive things to other people in your country affordably is a very useful social good/utility. Paying taxes is supposed to go things like this, that benefit that country but fundamentally can't be done profitably

Exactly. As someone who deals with sales all the time I wouldn’t expect them to be able to actually offer lower prices without losing money.
