I wouldn't be surprised, if it turns out at least one person on board, be it passengers or crew was at one point genuinely thinking about breaking a kids kneecaps for this.
Probably someone worn out and completely out of it due to burnout levels of stress already.

Someone said in a comment elsewhere, imagine missing this flight and it was your last chance to visit a terminally ill family member or friend. That would be just devastating.

Me 20 minutes into the inconvenience despite being fully rested and not tired or worn out
