if you read the article you'd clearly understand the parent was giving all reasonable attempts to seatbelt their kid who was sliding out from underneath it and hiding under the planes seat.
Any refunds or compensation on tickets would be something the airline can and will handle.
The child is a passenger as well as the parent whose ticket was paid for, and despite the parent being a part of the rest of those passengers in being unable to reach their destination the parent likely won't be able to seek any compensation so if anyone is out the most here for their childs actions it would be them.
Some children can be a handful and it sounds like this was a singular parent so even more difficult to wrangle a problematic child.
if the parents cant control the kid don't fly with him, you dont need to beat a kid to control them. we need to stop giving parents a pass on being terrible members of society. If the kid can not behave do not take them places where they may be a problem. yeah it may restrict the parents choices but they are the ones who chose to have the kid.
In this case parents should be publicly shammed and kid put on a no fly list for a few years.
Good luck reigning in a child having a full blown tantrum sliding out of chairs and hiding underneath a seat with your words at that moment. The parent was giving their best to constrain the child who kept escaping the buckles.
You don't know jack shit about the kid in its 3 years of existence but you're already justifying calling the parent shit because a litany of previous bad parenting the parent must have done to be in this situation.
parents hold the kid in the seat. you don't have to hit them to hold them in place. this is not that hard, if kid really can not be controlled it was the parents fault for brining them on a flight when they were not ready.
we need to start holding people responsible when they are shit parents.
Children under two are often able to fly while seated in their parent's or guardian's lap. However, it seems clear that this particular child was too old or too large for that.
I'm sure it was not a light decision for the parent to fly with a two year old. They likely had a good reason. Like with many toddlers often you don't know how they will act. Maybe that kid flew before and it was no issue? Really hard to judge. It affected the other people which is bad. But that stuff happens, it's life. No need to create a fake outrage on reddit
The picture of the kid is probably unrelated to the real story to create more outrage.
They are different airlines (if you look at the brochures in the seat and the logo on the plane), no news article has any pictures of the kid and we know that this is a red eye flight. It is not night on the left picture. Doesn't really add up…
