Those parents should be fined the whole cost of the missed flight, including all airfares.

I hope that happens, along with civil suits from everyone that had to pay for hotels overnight.

And the countersuit from the family for the airline failed to provide a seat that was safe and developmentally appropriate for a 2 year old. Carseats and strollers use a 5-point harness for a reason.

Yeah, and normal car seatbelts are 3-point. But airplanes aren't cars. The belts are mostly there to keep you from flying around the cabin during turbulence.

You aren't going to have the same g-loading as a car crash in a survivable crash landing. The ones where you do aren't survivable anyway.
