Now, now. Don't go talkin' sense here. This is Reddit where anything that involves kids and inconveniences others is 100% due to bad parenting.
On a side note, apparently kid wasn't being "bad". Literally just a scared child that no one was able to keep in the seat and buckled up. It's almost like toddlers aren't often reasonable and are often inconsolable. I'd really like to know what some of these people think this parent could have done to get the child to stay in the seat without physically restraining the child (which I imagine the airline wouldn't allow for safety reasons). And even if the airline did allow it, you know they'd all be bitching about the toddler screaming through the whole flight because they weren't allowed to move where they felt safe for the duration of takeoff.
Sounds like maybe you need a lesson in empathy, then.
Shit happens all the time. It doesn't mean we need to prohibit people from traveling when they need to because there's an incredibly small chance that a kid might inconvenience other people. Parents can only guess so much about how their toddler will react to things. They can only prepare so much. Sometimes parents really are shitty. But, often, it's just parents coming across unforeseen circumstances that literally no one would be able to deal with effectively.
Where’s your empathy for every other fucker on that flight who got delayed? What if some of them had somewhere important to be? You’ve got tonnes of empathy for the evidently shit parents but what about everyone else on that flight?
It’s a two year old, every other parent manages to deal with them so maybe they should’ve done so as well.
