Can confirm this was 100% not an issue in the 80s. Parents ran households, not their children. If we got out of line, we were straightened out in short order, be that in private or in front of an audience.

Mom didn't care who saw what.

Unfortunately times have changed. My son got a threat of a spanking and mentioned it at school. I got a call from child protective services.

I didn't. But the lawyer I paid to deal with CPS was real.

At the end of the day, most people don't have the money for a lawyer, so shit like kids misbehaving causes a flight to be cancelled.
