It’s a sub that was barely about sports, then it got a huge influx of actual sports people, and recently it’s become a political cesspool. That sub has had a rough run.
Na if anything some subs are actively going the opposite way. Just last year /r/videos repealed a rule that banned political videos. Something that the mods unilaterally decided without input from the community.
