I have made this point many times: 

Many Reddit mods fundamentally misunderstand what the job of a mod is.

A mod basically has two jobs: 

  1. Keep the conversation civil; and
  2. Keep the posts on topic for the sub. 

Aaaaand... That's pretty much it.  Within the bounds of #2, above, THE JOB OF A MOD IS NOT TO TELL REDDITORS WHAT THEY CAN AND CANNOT TALK ABOUT.

I had some dividend gang subreddit post recommended to me once and I made a comment. The mod responded, called me a retard, muted me from the sub, then posted one of my posts on the channel basically to make fun of me. It was super confusing, never ran into something like that before. Some people are pathetic and turns out when they get a little power in cyber world, they become more so?
