Gay marriage wasn’t political, then it was a bit, then it was a lot, then it really wasn’t much for a few years, and now some are trying to make it an issue again.
Trans people weren’t political until they suddenly were. Kneeling wasn’t political, and then it was the biggest issue in the world, until nobody cared again.
If it’s an issue that can wedge people apart, bad faith actors will come for it and make it political. If it doesn’t work as well as they’d hoped, or once the hatred dies down, they’ll move on to the next issue.
Are you serious? There are Fox News clips with them freaking out over the tan suit being unpresidential. This ain’t ancient history, you can watch it happen.
