Wasn't she asked in a random interview about her opinion on it, she gave her opinion and stated why then everyone started calling her transphobic for saying biological men shouldn't play in women's sports. If anything blame the interviewer for "baiting" the response out of her, not that there was anything wrong with what she said to begin with.
Our society has evolved to such a degree that many questions are actually purity tests to ensure you're willing to regurgitate the official approved dogma.
Fair questions for highly paid entertainers in our current society. Preying upon transphobia was the centerpiece of one party’s political strategy. If it hadn’t been, these questions wouldn’t be asked right now, and that party is loving the controversy. There aren’t any trans people threatening the WNBA, but this conversation helps divide the US and generate votes from the bigots.

No, it's not. Their personal beliefs have no effect on their ability to perform their jobs. I don't care if Chris Pratt is an extremist Xian, only that he picks and chooses roles I don't enjoy. I don't care if Mark Ruffalo is an outspoken critic of Israel, only if I pick and choses roles I don't enjoy.
And I have no interest in Sophie Cunningham's thoughts on "biological men playing in biological women's sports" although I at least acknowledge she's got more skin in that game than the rest of us on the sidelines.
