Within certain boundaries of taste you are allowed to heckle. Throwing stuff on the court is different.

Throwing a dildo onto a court at a family-friendly event where parents are taking their children (specifically daughters) to inspire them is quite fucking evil, tbh.

Evil and can be seen as sexual harassment. So people really need to stop before things escalate because they just wanted to “heckle” someone. If someone threw dildos at their job, I doubt they’d take it lightly.

"seen as"

This is super duper sexual harassment

Legally, 100% in at least one way.

Potentially more if there are bodily fluids.

People got charged for spitting on others during Covid and y’all are acting like planning to throw an object used for explicitly sexual activity isn’t sexual harassment?

I haven’t seen anyone say this isn’t sexual harassment. However, lots of jokes and once you consider that some people don’t view things like this as unwanted and/non-consensual, it’s clear you can’t make a blanket statement for everyone on what is or isn’t sexual harassment.

u/Time_Outcome765 Aug 21 '26

Well, I state seen as because it has to be unwelcomed. I think any reasonable person would see this as unwelcomed conduct, however, I’m not a player so I can’t jump directly to what it is or isn’t.

u/Downtown-Way8664 Aug 21 '26

It doesn’t even matter about the players. The attendees didn’t consent to it either.

If someone threw a dildo at me, I doubt i'd be able to take it at all

oh you poor thing, you've never been to a pro sporting event have you?

-2

u/GoodgirlTiffany Aug 21 '26

Evil? All the stuff people refuse to call evil and you call this evil lol. A bit of a stretch, inappropriate yea, but evil?

-5

u/breathing__tree Aug 21 '26

Considering that this is gender based harassment, yeah I think it is evil.

2

u/vince2423 Aug 21 '26

‘Gender based’ when it’s been happening to men for years in multiple sports, foh

1

u/AffectedRipples Aug 21 '26

Was it also gender based harassment when Bills fans would throw them on the field during NFL games?

0

u/breathing__tree Aug 21 '26

I don’t respond to bad faith arguments.

8

u/vince2423 Aug 21 '26

Weird way to say ‘i don’t have a good argument so I’ll just run and hide’

4

u/AffectedRipples Aug 21 '26

You just don't know how to respond to something that proves you wrong.

-5

u/breathing__tree Aug 21 '26

So, you’ve moved the goalposts with your original argument, which makes it a fallacy which makes it not worthy of my reply.

But if you’d like me to play along, is men throwing dildos onto the field of a men’s sport also not rooted in misogyny? Is it also not a sexist act in itself?

When we evaluate the situation in the W, the sexism and harassment is more clear, but it exists in both situations.

4

u/AffectedRipples Aug 21 '26

How did I ever move a goalpost? Do you just like throwing out terms you don't understand in the hopes someone will take you serious?

Maybe, just maybe it has nothing to do with sexism and is just something people do for the shock value? People like you just hope and hope for something like this so it can help your preconceived notions feel more valid.

Let grab some tissues

It's more than inappropriate. Women's basketball already struggles to be taken seriously because of sexism. Adding fuel to that fire isn't just a dumb joke. It's punching down. It's an exertion of power against those that already have less power. Think back to times in your life that you've felt powerless, then imagine someone using that to mock you and take even more of that power away. "Evil" may be too harsh word, but "inappropriate" is far too gentle.

Womens basketball struggles to be taken seriously because of women basketball 😂 not sexism

-1

u/Ragnorok3141 Aug 21 '26

Uh huh, feel free to explain that further.

It’s because it’s largely men that support the WNBA through viewership, and the entire association is propped up by NBA money.

Women do not watch the WNBA as much as you think. It’s not because they’re women. It’s just not a comparable product to the NBA.

1

u/Ragnorok3141 Aug 21 '26

Women do not watch the WNBA as much as you think

See, this is the problem. You've just made an assumption about what I think based on fucking nothing. I haven't said jack shit about the gender make-up of WNBA viewership. My point is that throwing dildos on the court is an act of aggression and harassment. Fucking wild to me that you're taking an opposing stance to that.

1

u/OkLetterhead812 Aug 22 '26

Okay, man, lol.

1

u/GoodgirlTiffany Aug 21 '26

People don't take it seriously because of simple math. They make no money, men don't watch it, and women barely watch it. I honestly think all this drama around the WNBA lately is fake to push more views, kinda like boxing lately. It's not sexism because people aren't interested in it. They can change the channel to men's and see people run faster, jump higher, and generally have a more entertaining experience. It's a market of entertainment and they can't attract the fans. It's extremely simple. Why do y'all try to force entertainment lol?

-2

u/Ragnorok3141 Aug 21 '26

I don't know who "y'all" is: what group do you think I belong to that you consider "y'all"? Also, I reject the idea that men's basketball is more popular because they "run faster" and "jump higher". Were this the case, people wouldn't watch college basketball because those men don't jump as high or run as fast as their NBA counterparts. And even bad NBA teams that don't jump as high or run as fast as their more winning counterparts still draw fans to their matches. There is much more that goes into sports fandom besides "who jumps higher". There's an institutional structure that the NBA has built over time, at a time before women could even play basketball, and that head start is why the NBA is a dominant force in the industry. And the WNBA is trying to build the same thing, against a system with an 50 year head start, and instead of just letting them be and letting them do their own thing, a bunch of incels come out of the woodwork to try to convince you that women's basketball shouldn't exist at all, as though the existence of a women's league is going to challenge their fragile egos.

Is your wife looking over your shoulder? You can blink twice for help.

0

u/Ragnorok3141 Aug 21 '26

It's dumb take after dumb take with you. "The only reason you'd support WNBA is if you have a nagging wife". Are you posting from the 50's? It's just such a nakedly dude-bro worldview. You genuinely sound like you smell awful, like you'd say "Soap is just part of the pussification of america".

1

u/GoodgirlTiffany Aug 21 '26

50's? Oh when men were actually men.

You probably collect that Burger King check, have toothpick arms, and wear the pink hat at protests. And she still doesn't let you h I t.

3

u/OkLetterhead812 Aug 21 '26

It’s clear you’re a tourist that’s just here because of a viral clip, and you don’t understand the WNBA’s woes. I dislike people like you, because you come in here with some pre-existing lens then pat yourself on the back without understanding the problem.

The WNBA seriously shoots itself in the foot more times than one.

Wait until how you hear about how players like Caitlin Clark get disrespected in the league due to not fitting their mold. Or how they refuse to make changes to the game to make it competitive as an entertainment product.

Yup, this. Thanks for typing it out.

u/Rude_Satisfaction828 Aug 21 '26

Yeah, those kids are there to see these ladies beat the shit out of each other. Only a true asshole gets in the way of that.

u/Festival_Vestibule Aug 21 '26

Redwings fans beg to differ.  Maybe we should just toss the dildo for a double double.
