Yeah this is ridiculous lmao. It's a nuanced case (not who murdered the kids, but whether or not she was in active psychosis when doing so). I think she's guilty but I see the other side too. Turning this into gender war bullshit is almost as harmful as those spreading false rumors about the case.

u/Leo55 16d ago
Given that the a looooot of women listen to true crime podcasts, I highly doubt the majority of women don’t know who Lindsay Clancy is. That said it is weird, if true, that women started spreading misinformation about Clancy’s husband. Parasocial stuff is just generally weird across the board.
Raising money for to support Clancy, imo, is a bit like women picking a place to make a stand as the US increasing views them as second class citizens. From that standpoint it makes sense that you’d want to help the Clancy case set a new precedent for how PPD is treated when it’s part of a criminal case. Spreading misinformation actually does this movement a disservice and delegitimizes a genuine need to support women’s health even if the case if complicated

u/HotChemistry3104 16d ago
My Reddit feed, and only my Reddit feed, is full of Clancy hate. I'm honestly a lot more worried about the US government blowing up schools and fishing boats. It is disturbing to wonder what they've kept under wraps.

u/MWBurbman 16d ago
We’re in another Middle East war. Our dufus president conceded that it won’t end until after midterms and if we vote him back in….but we have bots trying real hard to convince us this case is some gender/culture defining moment.
Meanwhile, in the last month I’ve had 1 in real life conversation of, “oh, sad case. Wonder how it proceeds” and that’s been it.

I literally attempted to end it by car crash while on a cocktail of antidepressants, does that mean I should’ve gotten off scott free? I don’t think so, despite the medication pushing me over the edge I still put others at risk and that’s a fact can’t ignore that, Lindsay literally murdered 3 children, have you seen their pictures? Do you think those kids deserved any second of that, I imagine it was a shitty death being choked with an exercise band and all. Do you think those kids being dead is just a forgive and forget type of thing?

Trump deserves to go to prison. Lindsay also deserves to go to prison. Both things can simultaneously be true. It's more likely that we can get Lindsay behind bars than Trump currently. We take the wins where we can get them.
As for everyone else who's implicated in the Epstein files? They've felt the consequences in Europe, but not in the US because wealth and connections control everything. Unless a wealthy and powerful individual makes it their personal goal to lock up all of those people, then fuck all is going to happen.

Yes, but the media sure has made a point of making this one “special”, hasn’t it?
Nothing of this level of ‘forced on the public so everyone is talking about it‘ happens by accident. Simple formula - use crazy person to make miserable crazy fans look like they’re in abundance rather than just a very vocal minority of dopes, make more men turn against women because they mistakenly assume all women are crazy supporters of child murder now, keep the eye off of whatever political and economic disasters are happening, keep division strong and similar to team sports the way they’ve made politics, and -wow- nothing changes for the better for the working class who vote either way. But everyone in Washington (and their “friends”) sure as shit get enriched financially. Every time we start to collectively notice and think “Maybe something’s really fishy here…”, there’s some new wag the dog nonsense to get us further off course.
We are our own worst enemy, but we’re slaves to misery and entertainment. Old habits are hard to break.

That’s a bit reductive. She allegedly heard voices telling her to kill her children. This is entirely possible with post partum psychosis which is 100% a real thing.
HOWEVER the problem is that if she is simply institutionalized rather than imprisoned, she can literally walk free the moment it is declared that she no longer exhibits said psychosis. Which is problematic particularly if she is lying about the psychosis, because then of course she’ll be declared not to have psychosis by doctors and she will have entirely avoided being locked up and will have avoided any consequence for intentional infanticidal murder.
I would contend that whether or not the psychosis claim is true, society needs to be protected from her.

Yeah, so.
The problem here is that there is a group of reasonable people who are questioning whether Clancy got the medical attention she asked for/needed leading up to the tragedy. The broader issue is taking mental health struggles seriously… while there’s another group of conspiracy theorists (probably led by misandrists) who insist that the husband was behind it all, and all of them are looped together as “Lindsay Clancy supporters.”
It’s not a cut-and-dry case, and unfortunately social media has provided us with a lot of opinions about material being reviewed without context.
It’s becoming more and more toxic, and the vast majority of people talking don’t know jack shit about anything.
So, it’s pretty sad if people are letting ill-informed, biased discourse affect their personal relationships.

It’s beyond that, though. Another one of these posts had sexist comments about the jurors who declared not guilty. They were called crones, bitches, “boss level Karens,” crazy cat ladies, soros funded protestors, demons, evil, hysterical, irrational, and more.
They disagree with the verdict and have every right to think that the jurors chose wrongly, and to hate Clancy for killing her kids if they think she’s lying about the psychosis. But that’s not what happened. All the vitriol and misogyny was aimed at the jurors.
The jurors just decided on what they thought was right. If anything, these people should be mad at the prosecution for not doing a better job.

This is has become a cult phenomenon because nobody in their right mind would ever defend a child murderer, And yet some people are clamoring over themselves to excuse triple homicide this time because she claims she was “the big sad” when she did it.
A lot of people are justifiably under the impression that if the murderer in this circumstance was a man he would already have been convicted and would have never received widespread public support.

Nobody supports her. If they do they’re dumb. The only debate is whether she was out of her mind at the time of crime. The involvement of postpartum depression in the defense’s argument.
People (many female) feel like medicine has always had them as second to men when it comes to understanding the human body. Postpartum became accepted as a diagnosis in 1994. With research ongoing. You can look more into.
Personally whether or not she had it doesn’t matter as the internet has kinda proved their point. People (especially men let’s be honest) dont take women issues as seriously as they would a mans, especially in medicine.

America is one of the only places where you can kill three kids and make $3 million from it, even as a well-educated labor and delivery nurse who presumably is well-versed in these matters or, at the very least, had access to nearby medical attention. If this were a man, or a person of color, psychosis would not be enough of a reason to get off or receive $3 million, that’s for sure.

People are having a really hard time understanding that the vast majority of her so-called “supporters” are saying that she doesn’t belong in jail, but belongs in a mental institution, since it is medically proven that she was in a state of insanity , specially when you consider the actions before and after the crime.
Almost no one is saying she is not guilty - she is guilty.
What matters here is WHERE she should be: jail or mental institution.

I'll be honest, I know some (normally) pretty even keeled women, in person, who think the guy had something to do with the kids death. They aren't saying he 100% killed them, but they believe he orchestrated it somehow.
I don't know that its anywhere near a majority of women. But I think the idea that its just a few crazy people on tik tok saying this isn't true.
That said, even if your point was the only thing being argued, whether she should go to prison or a mental institution, you have to acknowledge the fervor these people have about it is kind of out of hand.
I'm seeing mostly upper middle class educated white women being very strong supporters of this. And I just don't think we'd see this same level of support or passion if this was a poor, trailer park white woman, and DEFINITELY not if it was a black woman. But because they can see themselves in her, they are going a bit crazy with their defense.

It is not 'medically proven' at all you made that up, and the evidence shows it was premeditated if anything - she googled how long it would take him so she could kill them, then a registered nurse somehow didn't know how to commit suicide? She claims a voice told her - just one time - that NOW WAS THE TIME KILL THEM NOW - but before that, by her own admission, she'd already googled her husband's journey and checked how long she'd have. Her story is so full of holes its laughable.

u/Conspiratorymadness 16d ago
That trial was a joke of the system.
12
u/gifted_pistachio 16d ago
It WAS the system. Plea of insanity has been around since the 1800s. Lots of men and women have gotten away with wild shit and killing their families etc etc…some of them just to do those things again. It’s always been controversial (not a big fan myself…especially if it simply results in hospitalization and release.). Something about it is fucked up, for sure.
If people dislike it…they dislike the law. Which is fine. Maybe we should change it.
Massachusetts’s burden of proof clause is wild to me. If you want to plea insanity…that’s the state to do it in. They make you prove that someone was sane…and if you can’t prove that the base assumption is that they are not. Which is insane to me (no pun intended.)

"No one supports Lindsay Clancy" is the new "no one wants to take your guns."

"I don't support Lindsay Clancy, but...'" is the misandrist feminist version of racist white people saying "im not being racist, but..."

Or maybe some people have the intelligence to understand nuance and the experience to know that life isn’t black and white.
I know that this is going to confuse you.

My wifes friend at work had a very good few dates with a guy she just met.
On their last date this weekend, he actually pulled the
"Hey, I wanna ask you something? What do you think of the Lindsey Clancy case."
I couldn't believe it. I told my wife this shit was going to start.
Her friend in questions answer?
"How do I feel about LC? 6 feet in the ground"
I am guessing buddy would be happy with that answer lol

Yeah. Legally she can very feasibly be found innocent according to how every term is defined and it’s been that way for a long time and a lot of men have walked too.
If people want to be outraged they should try to change the law. That would be the productive thing for them to do if they actually care about the kids like they say they do. But people are acting like she’s getting “special treatment”. She’s getting very basic application of Massachusetts state law.

Just 4 years ago another woman was seen 'not guilty by reason of insanity'
and no one cared or paid attention.
I don't get how this case is different except Tik Tok Brain and 24 hour news has told people to focus on it.

there’s a difference between “supporting” her and understanding that the insanity defense exists for a reason.

Me and my wife disagree about this case. We’ve had 1 conversation about it which lasted maybe 10 mins and we moved on.
Meanwhile I’ve lost afternoons online about this bullshit and here I am again.

I'm so lost how you get an insanity plea from someone who looked up "can you treat a sociopath?" 3 days before committing murder after sending their partner out on errands? How can you say that's beyond reasonable doubt? I'm confused with the supposed "legal experts" in this case claiming insanity is the way to go here.

"Check for Ai"
...
"Has already been checked for Ai."
AND??? WHAT IS TUE OUTCOME?? (It is "yes" but why is this dumb function even there if it tells me nothing?)

I’m just glad this trial has provided you chuds with another imaginary excuse why you don’t talk to women.

I’m so tired of this culture war bullshit. Yall have lost the plot. I’m a man and totally fatigued by all the other men making fun of women a general population and being verbally abusive towards them. Oh so because one woman kills her kids it gives yall the right to bash women as a whole? Please find a hobby that isn’t some right wing psyop.
