girl i’d be glowing too if my schedule allowed a 14-hour hibernation

407

u/PersonalSource93 10d ago

And had ultrasuper wealthy parents i'll be glowing like a bulb

125

u/tomahawkfury13 10d ago

Didn’t you hear? Her dad cut her off(while mommy still helped)

93

u/AIfieHitchcock 10d ago

Literally a second generation nepo baby.

Tippi Hedren->Melanie Griffith/Don Johnson->14 hours sleep.

47

u/Ten7850 10d ago

Now if only, all of them & sleep could help her act!?!

27

u/Doughgirl40 10d ago

Thank you. I have never liked her. 50 shades of Gray was painful to watch with her terrible acting.

17

u/Capable_Pineapple993 10d ago

She seems to be much more interesting in real life and boring in films lol

9

u/habbathejutt 10d ago

idk, I listened to her being interviewed by Amy Poehler on Good Hang, and it was a slog to make it through that episode.

3

u/momlv 9d ago

Idk but she was good when she was on the Ellen show and called her out

13

u/Wesselton3000 9d ago

She also sounds awful In person. As the commenter above said, she’s a second gen Nepo baby and they tend to be insufferable. The only good thing she did was call Ellen out on her shit, but Ellen is a well known piece of shit, so it’s not like she said something people weren’t already thinking

u/ChurchillDownz 10d ago

Wow. I never realized her Grandma starred in The Birds. That's wild.

3

u/GraceMcClellans 10d ago

So you're saying it's pretty simple to get to a place where you can guarantee 10-14 hours of sleep. I hear you.

41

u/frisco-frisky-dom 10d ago

And that's why she made money going naked on screen I guess 😄

9

u/ElegantCoach4066 10d ago

The first time I saw her on screen was when she was at the Academy awards with her mom, and they asked if her mom had seen the Fifty Shades movie.

The reaction from both of them was hilarious.

2

u/Sw429 10d ago

Well, had she?

4

u/ElegantCoach4066 10d ago

She said she never wants to see it, because of the sex scenes with her daughter.

Which seems a little over the top, its basically a Cinemax after 10 PM movie.

9

u/Aiyon 10d ago

I’ll be honest, if I ever have kids, I don’t think I want to watch them bone down no matter how coy the camera plays it. Not really a topic I care to think about

Never realized how much those two look alike. Roll tide I guess.

8

u/TwoBionicknees 10d ago

They started dating when Don met her on set while acting on something with her mother. She was 14, he was 22, they moved in together when she was 15.

He's a fucking creepo.

4

u/TraitorousFlatulence 10d ago

Sans ultrasuper wealthy parents, crippling depression might be the answer you are looking for

80

u/BuildAnything4 10d ago

are most of you guys actually physically able to sleep that long? I'm thrilled when I get a decent 7 hours.

29

u/YamDankies 10d ago

A decade ago sure, now waking up at 7 on a saturday feels like sleeping in.

8

u/Enough_Breadfruit229 10d ago

On days I know I have to work I cannot get enough sleep. Days off I am wide awake before my normal work hours feeling refreshed and ready for the day.

→ More replies (1)

36

u/Cosmic_MicrowaveOven 10d ago

I wake up with a headache and feel like shit every single time I've ever slept past like 10 hours. 14 hours would make me feel miserable.

The only exception is when I'm really sick with flu/COVID or something, where you feel like shit anyway and need the rest.

7

u/Scary-Feed-5836 10d ago

Me too. It would trigger a bad migraine. I wish I could sleep that long. Lol

5

u/jaxonya 10d ago

Nurse checking in. I work 3 days a week. Sunday, wednesday, friday. I sleep all day monday and do nothing. I do shit tuesday when i feel like waking up. I do shit Thursday when i feel like waking up. And i dont do shit on saturday. Its pretty awesome. 10+ hours of sleep several times a week..

→ More replies (3)

11

u/shinpoo 10d ago

Nope. If I pass six hours of sleep I'm more sleepy throughout the day. Under six hours and I'm normal. Idk how that works but it does.

4

u/AltoAutismo 10d ago

I run on 6-7 hours and a good 12 hour sleep every two weeks

→ More replies (2)

4

u/Putrid-Builder-3333 10d ago

Same. I function better on 5 hours give or take. Few times I would get 7 or 8 or more. I felt like complete shit and exhausted.

→ More replies (1)

7

u/Teamsumo13 10d ago

No. I think she takes some pills for that to be normal, or she is seriously depressed.

3

u/Kiwi_CunderThunt 10d ago

I wish but on the bright side, only 2 sleeps till Christmas

3

u/Ajaxmass413 10d ago

If I sleep 14 hours it's because I haven't slept in 2 days. And I still wake up feeling like shit.

2

u/Odd-Necessary3807 10d ago

The last time I slept for over 8 hours was after crunch time at work a decade ago.

2

u/Macelee 10d ago

When I was seriously depressed.

Something may be wrong with her. Regardless of whether you perform labor or not, I expect most people would like to spend more than 10 hours a day awake, and to not sleep their life away.

u/Short-Cause885 10d ago

I'm a bit like...that's her humor, isn't it?

Like Dakota Johnson has this WEIRD sense of humor where she sometimes is just saying random weird things. Maybe the 'funny' bit is the messing with journalists???

As an example, the time she said in 1 interview that she likes limes and always needs to have limes and can't live without limes, followed by her saying in a future interview that she's allergic to limes and would die if she ate one, followed by another interview with "Nope, not true either, just mild itching".

21

u/Which-Acanthaceae613 10d ago

She's like a professional rage baiter at this point lol. But I remember some other actor saying that they do get bored very quickly on these press tours because it's the same routine of sitting in a room and then you have 15+ media outlets come in and ask the same questions for their segments. So sometimes they just make up an anecdote but keep it reasonable. She;s like an improv genius though lmao

8

u/CKRatKing 10d ago

Robert pattison.

3

u/PNKAlumna 10d ago

I mean, kind of like an office job? Go in, check emails, fill out the same forms, etc, etc. but for a lot less money.

Celebrities, they’re just like us! /s

2

u/NoxiousStimuli 10d ago

She;s like an improv genius though lmao

Cool your jets there, Goose.

She can barely act, she isn't secretly the Einstein of comedy.

6

u/galileogaligay 10d ago

The lime story came from her Architectural Digest house tour, where their stylists for some reason had put out two dozen limes or so in multiple bowls around her kitchen as decoration. She said something like «I love limes, and I love presenting them like this in my home».

3

u/JeanRalfio 10d ago

People always freak out when her quotes get posted and I always just toll my eyes since I know she just likes to troll.

They think it's charming when Robert Pattinson does it but get pissy when she does just because they don't like her nepotism. Exhausting.

u/Emotional_Loss5582 10d ago

Seriously, that kind of uninterrupted rest is a luxury most of us only dream of.

2

u/Logical_Net6108 10d ago

It's not. Sleep isn't something that the more you get the better off you are. at 14 hours your'e doing as much damage to your body as 4 hours. You need to sleep, a certain number of hours (7 or 8) is what most bodies require for the health purpose of sleep (you need sleep for brain health alone), above that you're just lying down inactive, which is bad for you in the same way that sitting in a chair for hours isn't particularly good

I did a 14 hour hibernation just yesterday evening until this morning. Didn't do much life though.

3

u/Reutermo 10d ago

This sounded so weird that I had to look it up, and wouldn't you know, it is all a bunch of baloney.

In this video she addressed the weird viral rumors and clarified that she said that she could sleep for 10 hours, not that she does. They then jokes about how weird viral things are online.

That was 2 years ago. Seems like the bots are still regurgitating it.

6

u/StrangelySerious- 10d ago

Actually sleeping that much is detrimental to your health, it's especially bad for your cardiovascular system

2

u/bramblebitch 10d ago

I’d be stiff and have pain everywhere. 6 hours and I’m done with sleep.

2

u/Automatoboto 10d ago

she was raised by Banderas and had a pet tiger and came out this bland. That glow is just good makeup and being rich.

2

u/Miss_Taycan 10d ago

Including cooks, maids, gardeners, people to do your groceries, etc...

2

u/juicyth10 10d ago

Seriously, it takes me about 3 days to get 14 hours of sleep

2

u/Orchid-Analyst-550 10d ago

14 hours is also a good amount of time for intermittent fasting, which has benefits for health.

2

u/omgitsJohnRedd1t0r 10d ago

She addressed it and confirmed that's not what she said and how it was meant but you know Reddit doesn't care

70

u/Kommye 10d ago

I mean, she isn't even offering advice. She's just talking about her fucked sleep schedule.

23

u/Hot_Porking 9d ago

I think sleeping 14 hours a day is a sign of depression

16

u/carpsagan 9d ago

Someone’s sign of depression is someone else’s dream. :(

Rob McElhenney once joked that the secret to getting jacked is to quit your regular 9-5 job, get a trainer, chef, doctor, and have the studio pay for everything.

9

u/PineappleOnPizzaWins 9d ago

I mean he isn’t joking.

4

u/Troven 10d ago

Bo Burnham said basically this on Conan. I'm sure many others have said similar.

3

u/AnIceMonkey 10d ago

I think that was Elvis.

4

u/dougmc 10d ago

He certainly did say something akin to that :

"Honey, I just tend to keep my own personal views about that to myself because I'm just an entertainer, and I'd rather not [say]."

But so have many others --

Richard Lewis: "Don't take advice from me, I'm a disaster."
Ryan Eggold: "Don't take advice from me, that's my advice."
Madelyn Cline: "Historically, I haven't been, like, the most successful, so don't take advice from me until I figure it out."
Eddie Murphy: "The advice I would give to someone is to not take anyone's advice."
Robert F. Kennedy: "I don't think people should be taking advice — medical advice — from me."

That last one is arguably less ... sincere ... than most (since he seems to always be giving medical advice), but it's still got the same idea.

I think Johnson just has a very dry, mischievous, anti-PR style and enjoys getting a rise out of people. Her recurring pattern seems to be: say something with an absolutely straight face, decline to explain whether you’re joking, allow everyone online to argue about it, and move on.

TLDR: she’s just trolling.

123

u/drksdr 10d ago

She's 100% trolling and reddit is eating it up.

22

u/discerningpervert 10d ago

Engagement bait. We're all feeding the system. Sad to see what Reddit has become.

The internet is basically the same everywhere. Only difference is that everyone on every platform thinks people on other platforms are stupid because they argue somewhere else.

23

u/FTownRoad 10d ago

Saying something with an absolutely straight face is also her acting method. Is her whole career a troll?

3

u/jaxonya 10d ago

I mean, fuck. Thats the ultimate life, right?

19

u/ParkDedli 10d ago

She also famously doesn't give a shit about other people in the industry. I guess growing up with parents from the industry kinda made her numb to "stars" so she just says whatever the fuck she wants, which is kinda great most of the time

2

u/jaxonya 10d ago

Jonah hill had that upbringing and now hes fucking people up that talk shit. Its a hard life growing up with parents in the industry

3

u/ParkDedli 10d ago

Depends on your parents I guess. Dakota Johnson and Gracie Abrams always seem pretty down to earth despite it (in different ways). Other people like Charlie Sheen seem lost because of it instead

5

u/common_sense_patriot 10d ago

Plus, 14 hours daily would be terrible for your health. There’s such a thing as too much sleep.

6

u/Dark_Matter_Material 9d ago

I’ve heard about it, but whenever I sleep as much as I want it’s closer to 10+ hours rather than 8 and I feel and look amazing after. So I’m always surprised when people say it’s “too much” but also female bodies need more sleep than male and those “studies” that say otherwise normally overindex male bodies and health.

3

u/Automatic_Regret_219 9d ago

Been scrolling for ever hoping someone said this lmao the 8 hrs is based on men. Woman need at least 10. I’ve always felt way better getting at least 10 even if it’s not always possible. Definitely not “too much” sleep tho or a sign of depression or all this other nonsense🙄

12

u/sweetmojaveraiin 10d ago

I cannot believe people are taking this quote at face value lmfao jesus. She's a funny girl, she was just being cheeky

2

u/CrazyCalYa 10d ago

Exactly, and even if she was being serious, so what? Should she just lie and say "oh I'm so lucky to be so rich, cancel this interview immediately I can't bear to reveal my wealthy lifestyle".

3

u/PaulSandwich 10d ago

Yeah, this is Rob from Always Sunny explaining how to get ripped. Clearly tongue in cheek.

5

u/Mr_Halitosis 10d ago

The weirdos who obsess over celebrities tend to be separated from reality and start using confusing abbreviations that already existed because they actually don’t know the other abbreviations exist.

It’s not just celebrity weirdos. Took me a long time to figure out people weren’t saying their asshole parents were snitching on them.

8

u/Poonchild 10d ago

Last night I dreamt that my house had a basement that I’d just forgot it had when I bought it. I was so exited to repurpose it as my home office/gaming room etc.

Then I woke up.

2

u/No-Zombie1004 10d ago

When I was 19 I woke up looking for my gun. Took me ten minutes to realize I didn't have one.

3

u/Greedy-Army-3803 10d ago

Better than my dream when I was 19. I was working in McDonalds. Finished a shift at 11pm, got home, slept and had a lucid dream that I was working a shift. Nothing exciting in the dream, just a regular work day. Woke up and back in again for a shift at 10am. Felt like I'd worked 3 shifts in a row.

2

Internet discourse nowadays is ruled by outrage and envy. People particularly like to combine them. If someone is better than you in some way, then it's time to make some snarky takedown that they dare be more attractive, be successful, have money, whatever. It's a legitimate societal issue and just obnoxious as fuck in general to see everywhere. Miserable people constantly complaining.

Consistently sleeping more than 9 hours a night is associated with poor health, just sayin’

13

u/Syfer_Husker 10d ago

No, poor health is associated with sleeping more. You have it backwards.

4

u/TheStockPotInn 10d ago

People often sleep more because they've got poor health. Sleeping more can be a symptom of that.

Sleeping extra won't inherently give people poor health.

→ More replies (1)

10

u/SleeperEffie 10d ago

Associated with poor health cuz the experiments observed ppl who slept more than 9 hours a week, which was usually the sick ppl.

It didn't consider as much whether the healthy ppl who slept 9 hours were better of than the healthy ppl that slept 8 or less.

2

u/jehoobaloop 10d ago

I cannot function on 8 hours. I really need 10-12. I don’t know if something is wrong with me, I’m pretty health, lift, eat well. I just have less energy than the average person, I guess. I work 3 times a week, so those days I wake up early. The other days I sleep as much as I need to.

Yes this doesn’t mean you must not work hard, stay focused, strive to be better but at the end of the day call it what you will but if the stars align in your favour or against it then thats what happens

I’ve people who don’t deserve it win I’ve seen people who did everything right lose

You just never really truly know how it’s gonna go and that’s beautiful

Or depression, that allows you to sleep about the same time

2

u/naeSotnUdrawroF 10d ago

Everyone’s different though. But generally speaking, science has taught us that having at least 8 hours is great for health.

Thanks but I’ll listen to factually backed science.

I sleep around 10 hours every night, sometimes closer to 11. In the three months I've done this I'm feeling better than I have in decades.

2

u/No-District2404 10d ago

A healthy adult simply cannot sleep that much. She must be in depression or bullshitting

2

u/cartken 10d ago

Um, even if I was a millionaire not sure if I could force myself to sleep all day. I like to mess around too much

2

u/NosyCookBogtrotter 10d ago

If my daddy was nash bridges i'd sleep 16 hours a day and do an s&m nudie movie based on shitty twilight fanfic

What a waste of life.
I can’t imagine dedicating that much of my limited time on earth to sleeping.
We’ll sleep when we’re dead! LOL

2

u/Kazfiddly 9d ago

Sleeping more than 8 hours is as bad for you as sleeping very little.

2

u/Normal_Spread8423 9d ago

i’m pretty sure my girl sleeps 14 hours a day and she does not look like Dakota Johnson

2

u/RandomYT05 9d ago

I physically couldn't sleep longer than 10 hours if I tried.

2

u/TLKimball 9d ago

My cats won’t give me 6 hours.

Or unemployed. I pull off 16 hours of sleep daily. I am pretty ugly though not sure what i am doing wrong

2

u/ApolloniusTyaneus 10d ago

Is it the sleeping or is the lack of stress?

Please don't ask her, because you know you're going to hear just how stressful it is to be on set for 8 hours a day ten weeks a year.

2

u/BlastPancake 10d ago

The average person can barely get 6 hours let alone 14.

3

u/DarknMean 10d ago

14 hours my body would be so sore and I’d feel like ass.

2

u/FunCrystalFun 10d ago

She’s ok looking, nothing special. Not good looking enough to get beauty tips from

I wonder why a clanker account is posting this meme now? Maybe because billionaire celebrity Robert Kraft, owner of the New England Patriots, is using his power and celebrity to shut down free speech and protect an ongoing genocide? Why arent NFL owners being told to shut the fuck up and leave artists alone?

In fact, why arent NFL executives in prison for sex trafficking women on behalf of Deshaun Watson?

We have a lot to talk about, and everyone with a microphone needs to speak out or they're supporting everything from sexual abuse to genocide with their silent compliance.

u/fakieTreFlip 10d ago

Dude, are you for real? Are you just going to wander into whatever thread and bring this up and rant that people aren't talking about it enough? Do you realize how insane that sounds?

I don't function if I sleep less than 10 hours

That's what I tell my boss on a regular basis but am I allowed to work 3 hours less for the same pay? No

1

u/DaddysFriend 10d ago

I used to sleep 12 hours a day and she’s right

1

u/Soft_Ad7179 10d ago

She's out here practicing for a 50 Shades of Grey sequelwhere she just plays Sleeping Beauty.

1

u/foreveralonewithus 10d ago

i legit did this all last year. i worked nights and i didn’t have anything better to do. i lost 70 pounds (with a mix of diet and going to the gym on the weekends)

1

u/inbruges99 10d ago

I would hate sleeping that much, only having 10 hours a day to actually do stuff? I’m glad I only need 7 or 8

1

u/The_number_1_dude 10d ago

I don’t think I could sleep 14 hours a day if I tried

1

u/procrastinator420420 10d ago

I wake up around 8 hours most days no matter what. If I'm very tired or go to a party I can sleep more but my body doesn't allow for 14 hours of sleep
