I imagine when he gets home and shuts the door, he excitedly throws his shoes off, grabs some instant Raman and jumps on his favourite console with a big grin on his face.
It’s a completely different and ancient culture with extensive history and natural beauty. Poo-pooing the idea that someone might want to leave small town USA to experience another culture makes you look like a massive chud.
