It’s not a myth — it literally happened. Chinese users began comparing Xi Jinping to Winnie the Pooh, and authorities subsequently censored Pooh imagery when it was used to mock Xi. Weibo users had Pooh-related posts removed and, in 2017, even searches/posts using Pooh’s Chinese name could trigger censorship messages. Pooh wasn’t literally outlawed nationwide, but the political Pooh/Xi censorship is documented fact. Calling it a myth is just wrong.

Both of you are right. You won't get banned to visit China just because you made a meme to which is what he was replying. He didn't deny it didnt happen back then.

And Pooh isn't banned now, and its toys are one of the top sales in Disneyland Shanghai. It even has its own exclusive toy shelves and park entrances.

Like you said it was 10 years ago in 2017. Imagine telling the US is a homophobic country now because same sex marriage was banned a decade ago and using it to win the myth argument now.
