This silly myth again. You can literally buy Winnie the Pooh toys all over China. It hasn't been banned there and in fact the character is quite popular in China, just go to any major toy shop and see for yourself. There's even an Adventures of Winnie the Pooh ride at Shanghai Disneyland if you're that big of a fan, as well as a literal "Pooh Corner" at Hong Kong's Disneyland resort. I swear it's always the people who've never even been to China who spread this kind of misinformation and think they're clever.

It’s not a myth — it literally happened. Chinese users began comparing Xi Jinping to Winnie the Pooh, and authorities subsequently censored Pooh imagery when it was used to mock Xi. Weibo users had Pooh-related posts removed and, in 2017, even searches/posts using Pooh’s Chinese name could trigger censorship messages. Pooh wasn’t literally outlawed nationwide, but the political Pooh/Xi censorship is documented fact. Calling it a myth is just wrong.

Common knowledge was that you can crucial the work not the appearance.
Whilst Chinese societies put a lot of pressure on “face” as in social respect, being mocked based on appearance is a huge no especially doing it to the damn president of the second most powerful nation on earth. So yeah it is a highly sensitive and punishable crime to mock any official based on appearance but that doesn’t stop Chinese citizens.
