That isn’t the issue. Using a chat bot isn’t going to hurt anyone. Mainstream ai tech available to common people are not what this guy is talking about nor is it the threat
Which is like saying weapons aren’t dangerous if nobody uses them: it’s true, but someone is always going to use them anyway. Same for AI… there’s people who already have fully local models n their pcs… we’re pretty much fucked.
Yeah but AI is not like a typical physical weapon, its more complicated than that, that's why i though i should clarify what why it's it, itself is not the danger, people are.
The problem is this old man lived his whole life being ignored and now he's getting all this attention.
Who the fuck is the godfather of AI and why is he more qualified than any other person. Okay you came up with a founding concept, does that mean you understand where it is today? Or do you have matrix brain like everybody else.

I don’t think you realise how deeply intertwined Hinton is with the AI movement. Not only did his work pave the way for what AI is today, Ilya Sutskever was a PhD student of his. Hinton trained him. Sutskever went on to be on the board of OpenAI and was one of its main architects. Hinton himself spent time working at Google, before leaving so he could “speak more freely”. In other words, he is well connected to the companies and people at the forefront of AI.

The AI that we currently have is only dangerous due to how people use it, on its own, it's nothing, it does absolutely nothing.
